Treasure Hunters: A Bad Pairing Eliminates A Good Team

June 19, 2006 Rankings by Brandon H.

Free Website Poll
On the two-hour premier of Treasure Hunters, the ten teams are split into two groups, each group thinking they are the only players in the hunt.

They are separated by thousands of miles, from the Arctic Circle in Alaska, to the Pacific Ocean in Hawaii. The groups meet up at the Capitol Building in Nebraska and learn that there are ten, not five, teams in the game, making in a whole lot harder.

The teams are sent right to their next task, having to solve a puzzle to find the location. They are paired up with another team and head to Mt. Rushmore. One team, however, goes the wrong way, resulting in the elimination of the Young Professionals.

Team Air Force
Current Ranking: 1 - Previous Ranking: 1

I see no reason to change the position of this team. They preformed very well this first week, lucky enough to be paired up with the Ex-CIA. Obviously the groups did very well together. Hopefully this streak will continue for them and result in them making the final few rounds. I, for one, would love to see them do it.

Team Southie Boys
Current Ranking: 2 - Previous Ranking: 2

Shockingly, I liked these guys. They were nowhere near as annoying as I originally anticipated. They were definitely a strong team and I think they have a shot to win it all, if they keep it up. We didn't really get much insight to them, though, so they could very well be flirting with the Grad students.

Team Ex-CIA
Current Ranking: 3 - Previous Ranking: 6

I'm not really a fan on these guys, yet, but I have to admit they did well. They were the first to complete the Alaskan challenges and then lucked out to be partnered with the Air Force Team, making a very strong duo. There are some other teams that I'd rather see make it to the end, but it looks like these guys have a shot.

Team Fogal
Current Ranking: 4 - Previous Ranking: 9

These guys surprised me. Thankfully, it was a very pleasant surprise. They have turned into my favourite team, at the moment. They have the anything-to-win attitude we were informed of. Unless the physical impact of the game wears on them, which I doubt, since this game seems more mental, these guys do have a shot.

Team Grad Students
Current Ranking: 5 - Previous Ranking: 8

Following the reality TV law, the all-women teams will make it far enough to get at each others throats. I think it will take these three longer than it will take Miss USA, because those guys are going to give up, shortly, I think. But these girls did pretty well. They may have ridden the coattails of the Geniuses near the beginning, but it helped them, and nobody seemed to care.

Team Geniuses
Current Ranking: 6 - Previous Ranking: 5

It was a close call, but they edged out the Young Pros and managed to survive another week. I thought I would like these guys, but compared to some of the other teams they just aren't amiable; plus, they over think way too much, and ultimately, they screwed themselves and the Young Pros over, by being so hardheaded in saying it was Mt. Teddy Roosevelt they were going to. Hardheadedness is fine within your own team, but it's not cool when you prevent another team from making it because of your egos.

Team Miss Usa
Current Ranking: 7 - Previous Ranking: 3

Can they handle this race? I clearly picked the wrong team, of the two women teams, for the higher rank in my initial rankings, because these girls didn't do so well. They sat down to take a break with the Hanlons while everybody else was busy. If eliminations continue like this, they'll be gone soon enough. This may turn into a case of 'the Tortoise and the Hare.'

Team Brown
Current Ranking: 8 - Previous Ranking: 10

They may not have done well, but, man, do these guys have character. They didn't give up; they kept going, despite being exhausted, while other teams sat down to take a break. I don't think these guys can win, but I really hope they come along for the ride, at least until some dead weight is taken off. These guys are very intelligent, but there is still the aspect of physical ability, and that will eventually be their downfall

Team Wild Hanlons
Current Ranking: 9 - Previous Ranking: 7

I really, really don't like these guys. This isn't meant to be stereotypical, but these guys will lose in a mental challenge against any one of these teams. For some reason, I don't think they'd hide the clue under a garbage can, do you? They tried every little thing possible before trying the correct solution and I was hoping they would get eliminated this week, I mean, they had no idea what the answer was until the Geniuses helped them.

Team Young Pro
Eliminated: Episode 1

I think the Young Professionals were unfairly eliminated. They had to put up with a bunch of hardheaded individuals who made them unable to go to Mt. Rushmore when they knew it was the right answer. Hopefully, there will be no more pairing up on this show, because it was a bad idea.
