American Idol 7 The Finalists are Announced!
Recap by Jenny Lane
May 14, 2008
Last week on American Idol, the four remaining finalists were allowed to choose songs from the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. Jason and Syesha were in the bottom two, and Jason was the one sent home. Jason actually seemed relieved to call it quits, and told Ryan that learning two songs was difficult, so he was even more worried about having to learn three.
This week, the three idols sang three songs. The first song was chosen by one of the judges, the second song was chosen by the contestants, and the final song was chosen by the producers.
David Archuleta:
"Paula chose "And so it Goes" by Billy Joel
"David chose "With You" by Chris Brown
"Producers chose "Longer" by Dan Fogelberg
Syesha Mercado:
"Randy chose "If I Ain't Got You" by Alecia Keys
"Syesha chose "Fever" by Peggy Lee
"Producers chose "Hit Me Up" by Gia Farrell
David Cook:
"Simon chose "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" by Roberta Flack, and wins the prize for the strangest song choice.
"David chose "I Dare You to Move" by Switchfoot
"Producers chose "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" by Aerosmith, and proved that producers should not make song choices.
Tonight's results show is pretty anticlimactic for me, because I can't imagine that anyone will be sent home other than Syesha. She has consistently been in the bottom week after week, and this week her performances were far from enough to put her above the Davids.
A hello to the judges starts things off. Paula is showing a lot of overfluffed cleavage tonight. Andrew Lloyd Webber, Michael Johns and Kristy Lee Cook are in the house.
Tonight's group number is "Ain't No Stopping Us Now" which I find ironic, given that one of them will be stopped tonight.
