America's Got Talent: It’s “Very Vegas”! Well, Some Of It
Recap and Predictions by Donna Emery

This week on America’s Got Talent, the first ten semifinal acts performed to see which ones would get our votes.
It will be interesting to see which ones get through to the next level.
The show opened, as usual with the Super-smarmy Nick Cannon over-hyping the acts and the judges. The judges were all dressed in black; I thought they might be mourning this season’s dearth of excellent talent. Nick relayed the surprising news that only four of these ten acts would be going on to the finals: three that America would choose, and one more chosen by the judges.
Nick asked our judges to say a few words about the upcoming performances.
Piers Morgan said it was the biggest night so far. He knew that the pressure didn’t get any hotter. He was excited to see how far the acts have come so far and looked forward to seeing them show how far they would take their acts, tonight.
Sharon Osbourne encouraged the acts to channel their nerves into adrenaline and focus, focus, focus.
David Hasselhoff told us the show tonight would be “hoff-tastic.” He called the evening’s talent “hoff-standing”; there would be no “knock-hoffs”. He warned the acts to be “great, or go home!”
The ten acts came out and smiled for the audience. Clips were shown of their past performances and all of them were shown in rehearsals. We got to hear how much each act wanted to win; how excited and nervous and ready they were.
The first act of the night was Acrodunk, the basketball dunkers. The act began with a blast of red smoke and the members of the group jumping and tumbling on a trampoline.
They tumble on the trampoline and dunk basketballs and, while entertaining this gets pretty monotonous to me. The climax of the act featured a toss of the ball through a flaming basket – followed by one of the troupe members jumping through the flaming basket. Pretty impressive.
Nick Cannon thought they acted was like “they were supernatural.”
Piers called them, “unbelievable.” He thought it was “one of the most thrilling, dangerous and entertaining” things he’d ever seen.
Sharon said she loves them. She called them exciting and said each time they perform, they bring something new. “Forget the Globetrotters!” she gushed.
David said he thought it had some shaky moments (I agree), “but you did it!”
The group’s leader revealed some of the troupe has some injuries, but they overcame them. He said he’d never have imagined, fifteen years ago, they’d be standing where they are today.
The next act is The Texas Tenors. These guys are soap-actor-good-looking and they can sing. The blonde reminds me of John Davidson. The minute I heard the opening notes of “Unchained Melody” I knew they’d be great. And they were. The blonde has a clear, pure voice and there were a few lines sung, in Spanish, by one of the others that were also charming. The harmony was great. Toward the end, there seemed to be a few too many counterpoints but all in all they did a great job.
Nick said it was.....
