American Idol: The Best Top Two Ever! Period!

After eight seasons of American Idol, I finally have my favorite two in the finale. Since I am someone who wanted this outcome, I figured I better explain why a little bit. As for those who doubted that this would be an interesting match-up, all I have to say is that Adam Lambert and Kris Allen have even managed to make nail polish interesting, case closed.
I normally pick in the beginning who I think should win, which in this case was Adam. But, I also pick my favorite diamond in the rough pick, which this season was Kris. I am usually able to wind up with one my favorites in the finale, but this is a first time for both of my favorites to make the finale. After such a disappointing beginning, I am so excited.
I have what I call a head versus heart split between Adam and Kris. My analytical head prefers Adam and is blown away by his range and talent. However, Kris has stolen my heart musically. I am not sure at what point it occurred for me, but Kris is actually my current favorite out of the two by a slight margin.
Kris also has the momentum with me in that the more I listen to Kris and the more I find out about Kris, the more I really appreciate Kris. I have a suspicion that what is going on with me is also happening with viewers nationwide in that while my head still wins out that Adam should be the winner, Kris has the current emotional momentum and could wind up winning instead.
I understand that there are many more reasons as to why Adam should win and I agree that Adam should win. However, if by chance Kris does wind up winning, Kris would still be a fine winner too. I believe that Kris more than holds his own with previous winners. Adam and Kris are the best of friends and will have the opportunity to do a major media blitz together, regardless of who finishes first and second.
I hope and wish down to my bones that there will not be an ugly fan war between fans of the two contestants. In the long run, it does not matter who win a popular reality show. What does matter is that they have the support and opportunities for a successful and long term musical career. I really want both of them to do well, and continue to do well; long after this season of American Idol is over.
I have had a permanent smile on my face since this finale match-up was announced, but the online backlash against both contestants has really undercut my enthusiasm. I am especially irritated with the backlash against Kris in particular because I feel like my intelligence is insulted. There are these snobs that can’t even envision that anyone can prefer Kris for musical reasons and still be an intelligent, music loving person. Make fun of me all that you want, but I am a fan of Kris for musical reasons, so at least give most Kris fans that much credit.
I also have never had conventional taste in music and I definitely don’t go for safe either. I don’t appreciated being dismissed as safe for liking Kris. I actually like both Adam and Kris for being musically independent natured souls that follow the beat of their own drums. They are both innovative and creative. I understand that Adam is more obviously different, but when one gets down to the nitty-gritty, Kris is just as original and different in his own way too.
As for the argument that Adam is the only contestant worth listening to, mainly because he can hit high notes out of this stratosphere and therefore is considered one in a billion by some of his fans, this argument only goes so far with me. Kris also hits a unique place for me musically, often when I least expect it. Kris sneaks up on me musically, kind of like the song “Falling Slowly”, and Kris leaves a lasting impression.
For all of the so-called people that Kris is supposed to be interchangeable with, I really don’t quite care for most of them. They are not interchangeable for Kris. I also don’t care if someone sounds musically similar to someone else if they don’t hit the same musical spot for me. Close is not close enough when it comes to Kris.
The media has compared Adam.....
