American Idol hopeful Joanna Pacitti was the most controversial contestant this season as many believed she shouldn’t have been put through due to her past record deal and relationship with 19 Entertainment executives Michelle Young and Roger Widynowski.
On Wednesday’s episode of Idol, judges Simon Cowell, Kara DioGuardi, Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson made Pacitti a top 36 contestant. They agreed that Pacitti only needed “another chance” to succeed.
Meanwhile, a contestant named Felicia Barton was shown being eliminated.
Early Thursday morning, Fox announced that Pacitti had been booted from her top 36 spot and replaced with Barton.
The reason behind their decision, “It has been determined that Joanna Pacitti is ineligible to continue in the competition.”
No other details on Pacitti’s departure were revealed.
