America's Next Top Model: Teyona Really Rocked It!
Fianle Recap by RTVC Senior Staff Writer Jacob D.
May 14, 2009
This week's episode of America's Next Top Model will see the show crowning it's twelfth winner.

Previously, 13 girls signed up for the show and 10 of them fell along the way. Isabella was the first girl to be eliminated when she seemed lost at the first photo shoot and didn't make a very good impression. Jessica was eliminated when her beauty wasn't translating to her photos and Nijah followed when she couldn't bring life to her's. Kortnie was eliminated when she wasn't making enough of an impact as a model and Sandra fell after having weeks of underwhelming performances.

Tahlia went out in eighth place when her lack of confidence and commercial appeal became a hindrance. London just barely missed traveling overseas when the judges picked apart her suddenly disproportionate figure and less-than-flattering photos. Natalie was the first girl to be eliminated in Brazil due to her less-than-stellar portfolio and Fo was eliminated when she couldn't compensate for her shorter height. Last week, Celia, my favorite girl of the whole season, was eliminated when the judges couldn't get past her age.

Now we are left with Allison, a judges' favorite with an interesting look, Aminat, the girl with arguably the most physical beauty and strongest presence, and Teyona, the girl with the best track record this season, bar-none. One of them will soon win. Who will it be? And who will come up short? Let's find out.

Tyra Mail: "Be on point tomorrow or you can kiss this competition goodbye. -Love, Tyra"

As you can see, the show immediately begins with a Tyra Mail accompanied by some scripts. The remaining girls discuss their status as the final three, what they need to work on, and begin practicing their lines for the impending CoverGirl commercial. The next day, they head out and meet with Mr. Jay for their latest CoverGirl based assignment. As usual, they will film a commercial and shoot some photos. The photos will serve as the public launching pad for the victor and McKey, Cycle 11's winner, is on hand to offer them some advice.

The girls get madeup and Aminat really has some huge lips! I'm not making fun of her, it's just something I didn't really notice until recently. Speaking of Aminat, she's first and she struggles. Mr. Jay feels her delivery is wooden and wants her to show some personality. Afterwards, Mr. Jay says she has the energy, but doesn't connect with her eyes. She then does her photo shoot and Jim De Yonker, ANTM mainstay, says she has what it takes to be a model.

Allison is next on set and she too runs into trouble. She soon forgets all her lines and is thrown off since she previously had it all memorized. Mr. Jay feels her performance is a step up from the last time they did a CoverGirl commercial, but he still isn't sure if she's ready. In her photo shoot, Jim compliments her look. Teyona is last and she keeps tripping over her tongue. Mr. Jay has her perform the commercial in a sing-songy manner in order to draw out her personality, but Teyona still stumbles and breaks down, admitting that her nerves are getting to her. She manages to get through the commercial and Mr. Jay is confident that she'll rock the photo shoot. Jim compliments her energy and the spark she brings to set.

The girls get the penultimate JPTM and each hopes that their hard work has paid off. The girls head to judging panel and the guest judge is Amir Slama. He designs for Rosa Cha, in whose show the final two girls will be walking. The final two will also have their Seventeen magazine shoot right after this panel concludes. The composite commercial for all three girls is shown and they all look gorgeous. Of the three, I'm drawn to Allison because Teyona is squinty and Aminat looks lifeless. Meanwhile, Allison is glowing and actually reminds me of Jenah from Cycle Nine.

Teyona is the first to be individually critiqued and her best take from the commercial shoot is aired. She struggles quite a bit. Miss J and Nigel wonder what happened and Teyona says her nerves got the best of her. Paulina says it was very clear and Tyra says you just have to learn to somehow cover it up. Teyona's best photo is posted and she is absolutely gorgeous! It's easily one of her best pictures because she looks flawless. Nigel raves about how well her eyes connect and Tyra says her picture is the definition of, "Smiling with your eyes." She feels Teyona captured the CoverGirl spirit.

Allison is next and gives an adorable performance in her CoverGirl commercial. Tyra said she was almost there, but didn't quite get it. Paulina admired the sound of her voice and how she carried herself. Allison's photo is shown and she looks amazing, even though she's still giving that same doll-like look we've seen from her a million times. Amir feels she conveys a sadness instead of sex appeal, but Tyra is proud of the quality of her film and feels Allison really has the potential to be a commercial model.

Aminat is last and she looks.....
