America's Next Top Model 10

Scoreboard By: Jacob D.
February 15, 2008

When last we left America's Next Top Model, cycle nine had graced our screens and shown us a new crop of 13 girls trying to be, yes, "America's Next Top Model."

Unfortunately, 12 of them had to go. First was Mila, whom the judges cut for just being a pretty girl and not a model. Then came Kimberly, who wasn't using her full potential, and Victoria, whom was cut for being abrasive at judging panel, at least to Twiggy. Janet was sent home when she wasn't perceived as a strong model and though Ambreal was originally selected to be the fifth girl eliminated, she earned a reprieve when resident witch Ebony quit, becoming the second girl in Top Model history to do so.

After that, plus-sized Sarah was sent home for being confused about her place in the industry and then Ambreal was sent packing. The remaining six girls flew to China as their foreign destinations and Lisa was eliminated when her insecurities caught up to her. Heather, the breakout star and winner of all, but one "CoverGirl of the Week" votes, was sent home because her personal presence didn't match up to her incredible high fashion appeal. Bianca, whom had taken the role of witch after Ebony left, was cut when the judges felt she didn't have as much natural talent as the other girls that were left.

This meant Chantal, Jenah, and Saleisha were the final three. Jenah, who had wowed the judges almost every week, was sent home over her crumbling confidence and attitude problems. After facing off in a final runway show, Texas stunner Chantal was declared the runner-up and Saleisha, the slow-and-steady competitor, was named the winner. All in all, it was one of my least favorite seasons because it was just so boring. Were it not for Jenah and Heather, and sometimes Chantal, I would call the whole season a complete wash.

Now cycle ten is almost upon us and 14 new girls are vying for the prize. This is the first time since cycle four that there has been 14 girls which means more photo shoots, commercial shoots, tears, and drama. All I'm hoping for is that no one quits or reaches Cycle Eight Renee/Cycle Six Jade levels of bitchiness. I'll be seeing ya when the season premieres on Wednesday, Feb. 20th at 8/7 central!
Fatima
Current Ranking: 1st Previous Ranking: N/A

Fatima ranks first on this pre-season scoreboard because she makes the biggest impression on me, though I continue to flip-flop on whether it's a good one or bad one. Her look is the most strikingly unique of all the girls, but still high fashion ready. Her body is great and she has this air about her. Indeed, when I first saw all the girls' photos, I stopped at Fatima. Whenever I click away from the photos, I remember Fatima. When I look back at the photos, Fatima's is the first name that comes up. I'll have to wait and see how her personality measures up, but right now Fatima has already left her mark.
Dominique
Current Ranking: 2nd - Previous Ranking: N/A

Of all the girls, Dominique is probably my favorite right now. She has "diva" written all over, but in a fun, grown up, "commands the room" kind of way. I'm seriously hoping she's not this season's Jade because I want her to be colorful, funny, silly, and oh-so-delicious. She has such potential and I'm betting she will not go quietly, so Dominique ranks second in this inaugural scoreboard.
Kimberly
Current Ranking: 3rd Previous Ranking: N/A

I think Kimberly has so much high fashion potential and I'm just loving her right now! She has that soft, fresh, baby face that works well in high fashion and couture and I don't think she'll be encumbered by thinking too much like previous bird-like contender Sarah from Cycle Eight. That's not to say Kimberly is dumb, just that she might be more of a natural. My only complaint with her photo is that she looks short, which means she may have some extra work to do.
Stacy Ann
Current Ranking: 4th Previous Ranking: N/A

I love Stacy Ann's pre-season photo, but I'm not sure if I love Stacy Ann. Her body, especially her legs, looks great and she has a stunning face. What makes me worry is that I sense a "princess-y" vibe from her which isn't usually a good thing. I think Stacy Ann will make a name for herself, but if it's in a good or bad way, or both, remains to be seen.
Katarzyna
Current Ranking: 5th Previous Ranking: none

IHer look is off-beat and her pose is a bit discombobulated in her pre-season photo. So why rank her so high? Well, it's all so wrong that it's right and Tyra loves that. Katarzyna is not what the judges call "typically pretty" and that will help her stand out in the competition as it did for Brooke in Cycle Six. If Katarzyna can take great photos and work well in commercial settings, she could turn out to be a front-runner.
