America's Next Top Model: Working The Late Shift And Suiting Up
Recap by Jacob D.

Previously on America's Next Top Model, a spirited game of, "Truth or Dare," led to a house-wide controversy when Hannah felt crowded and pushed Isis away. Hannah later escalated the gossip when she described herself as the, "typical white person," because she doesn't listen to black music or act loud. Brittany, Joslyn, Nikeysha, and Sheena took offense and when they confronted Hannah, she felt misunderstood and threatened. Beyond that, the lessons for the week centered around extreme posing and in the first challenge of the season, the girls had to sell jewelry designer Tarina Tarantino's products. Elina won and Sheena drew criticism for looking hoochie. The photo shoot saw the girls posing on a hanging ladder from a hot air balloon.
At judging panel, Tyra handed the first photo to Lauren Brie when the judges felt her picture that week was one of the best in Top Model history. Isis and Nikeysha ended up as the bottom two and though neither Isis' photo or personal presence were particularly inspiring, Nikeysha was eliminated when the judges felt she didn't learn her lessons from the previous week. 12 girls remain and this week, it's makeover time! Which girl will be eliminated at the end of this episode? Let's find out.
It's a new day and the second judging panel is behind the girls. Some of the girls are discussing the reality of the competition and Brittany tells us that she wants to be a high-fashion model and not just another pretty face, as the judges were calling her last week. Analeigh is aware that the judges expect a lot from her and is saddened that she's disappointing them. She decides to work on her posing and showing more personality.
The girls get home and Tyra is waiting for them, wearing a tiara and waving a wand. Tyra is there to throw a little, "Princess Party," for the girls, complete with tiaras, balloons, goodie bags, and pizza, though I suspect she'll soon be dropping the bomb of makeovers on them. Indeed, Tyra opens by talking about how she has, "made over," her career as she's gone along. If that didn't clue you in, you're not paying attention. Tyra discusses some of the career moves she's made and finally tells the girls that it's makeover time. Of course, there is much cheering. Tyra starts with Analeigh, but before she can say what Analeigh is getting done, Miss J slowly creeps in dressed as the wicked witch from Snow White, complete with apples. Tyra eats an apple and pretends to pass out, but don't worry folks because this is Mr. Jay's cue to step in as, "Prince Couture," and revive her with a kiss. Tyra wakes up, but pretends that she's too woozy to tell the girls what their makeovers will be and leaves that up to the Jays, which they will do the next day when the girls will actually get this work done.
Speaking of the next day, it's here! The girls head to a salon where Mr. Jay and Miss J are dressed as normal folks. They act coy and say that with Tyra gone, even they don't know what the girls are getting done. However, behind them are 12 stations with covered mirrors. At first, I thought there were artist renderings of what the girls would look like underneath those mirrors, but no, Tyra and the Jays are carrying out this secrecy thing to the end because the girls will not know what they'll look like until the mirrors are uncovered. Bah, humbug! The girls are at the Neil George Salon where salon owners Neil Weisburg and Amanda George promise them that they are in good hands. As usual, a before-and-after photo shoot will follow the makeovers.
The work begins and throughout the proceedings, we are treated to a mirror graphic which shows Tyra in a fairy costume telling us what the girls will have done. Marjorie is first and her hair is dyed brown. The blonde hair she had previously did kind of wash her out, so I think this darker color will serve her well. Tyra tells us that Joslyn will get longer, wavy, and textured hair extensions. In Joslyn's, "after photo," she looks great and even looks younger and more vibrant, no offense meant to Joslyn. Elina tells Mr. Jay that she's afraid to look silly, not just here on the show, but in general, and tells us that she's very careful about the image she cultivates for herself. She hopes for long black hair, but you can tell that that is definitely not what she's going to get. Mr. Jay advises Elina to just let go and embrace change because it will help her career in the long run.
Tyra tells us that Samantha's look is reminscient of any mall girl so she's getting an icy blonde, pixie hairdo which seems very similar to what Catie had back in Cycle Two. Samantha's new look is a big improvement over the old one and she tells us that she already feels like a model. Tyra says Hannah is a bit mousey and so is getting a shorter cut with bangs, a look that reminds me of Saleisha's bob from Cycle Nine. In Hannah's after photo, she still does not know how to work her face. Clark gets her hair dyed brown and seems to be given extensions because it looks like a ridiculous lion's mane in her after photo. Tyra says Lauren has beautiful eyes and decides to give her a platinum blonde dye job. Lauren's face is beautiful in her after photo and I could see her being a glamour model. I also think she has a bit of an androgynous, boyish quality to her look and would love to see her pose in a man's suit.
Tyra says Sheena's look is a bit.....
