America's Next Top Model: Blindfolds And The Eyes Have It
Recap by Jacob D.
September 25, 2008
Previously on America's Next Top Model, it was makeover day for the 12 remaining girls. Most got through the day without incident, but Elina, who had spent a good deal of time cultivating a certain image for herself, was thrown by her wild new red hair. A makeup challenge saw the girls filming a mock CoverGirl commercial for Wal-Mart's website and Hannah won. The photo shoot saw the girls modeling bikinis in Malibu.

Elina's revelatory new look and amazing photo got her called first when Tyra was handing out the photos at judging panel, while Analeigh and Brittany were left as the bottom two. Though Analeigh still wasn't utilizing her full potential, Brittany was eliminated when the judges didn't feel she was connecting as a model in her photos. 11 girls remain and the previews for this week's episode have teased a surprise elimination after a runway challenge. Will two girls be going home this week? And if so, which ones? Let's find out.

The girls head home after the most recent judging panel and Elina is blown away seeing her picture on the TV screen. Analeigh talks to Hannah and Marjorie about being in the bottom two and tells us that it's a rush of emotion. Hannah tells the two that she is tired of listening to them wallow in pity and tells us that the two are always dwelling on the negative. Hannah says that you have to just, "pick up your beans," and keep going.

Tyra Mail: "Tomorrow your model dreams could end up in the gutter. -Love, Tyra"

The girls guess that they will be taking runway lessons, since they haven't done that yet, and Analeigh throws, "bowling alley runway lessons," out there. The next day, the girls go to a la-di-da Hollywood bowling alley called, "Lucky Strike," which is not the most original name for anything bowling related, and Miss J greets them. He gives them all high-heeled bowling shoes and assigns them each a lane for their lessons.

Miss J tells the girls that runway walking is about precision because models are called on to walk across all kinds of surfaces. Isis tells us she is confident in her runway walk, but we see her immediately stumble and slip. Miss J says Isis walks like she's on ice and then makes the obvious pun with her name, "Ice-sis." Miss J calls for speed and energy from Analeigh and wonders how well she can take direction. Miss J thinks Marjorie has a stutter-step shopping mall walk and Hannah's walk is awful, in my opinion. She puts her fists on her hips and struts out, but looks all discombobulated. Miss J tells us that Hannah looked like she got a bowling ball dropped on her head. He tells the other girls to help Hannah when they get home.

McKey's shoulder is out of control, Lauren Brie needs to take longer steps, and Clark needs to find her center while Sheena gives a sultry walk. Miss J likes that Joslyn gives that something extra in her walk because it can be edited down into something great. Miss J points out that Samantha is bow-legged and gives her advice on how to fix that. While Miss J demonstrates how bow-legged she is by rolling a bowling ball down the lane between her legs, Samantha tells us that it runs in the family and she can use that as her trademark. Elina is too controlled and Miss J tells her to let it go. The girls head home and at the house, a group of girls practice their walks and try to coach Hannah. Isis says Hannah has potential, but needs a lot of work at this point.

Tyra Mail: "You think you have this competition in the bank? You may be walking right out of it. -Love, Tyra"

After the Tyra Mail is read, the screen switches back to Elina's picture. I only mention this because I thought the whole, "digital art," thing that is being implemented this season was separate, but apparently each girl's picture is being used on the same screen as the Tyra Mail. I hadn't noticed that previously. Clark and Lauren quietly discuss each girls' chances, both in the competition and in real life, and Lauren feels McKey has the most stunning face. They also feel Elina has a beautiful face, though they don't like her eyebrows, while neither feels Isis has much of a future in modeling. In another room, Isis and some of the other girls discuss Isis' transgendered status and Isis says she's here to stay.

The next day, some of the girls practice their walks in anticipation for the day's challenge and Analeigh says it's vital for her to step it up, no pun intended. The girls head out to a bank and Miss J informs them of their runway challenge. They will be modeling for fashion designer Jeremy Scott who explains that they are having the show in a bank because his collection is inspired by opulence, wealth, and glamor. Owing further to the bank theme, the girls will all be portraying cat burglars. The girls are getting prepared backstage and oh my heck, McKey is wearing a knock-off of that infamous, "curtain rod dress," from the Carol Burnett show. As Samantha is practicing, she keeps playing with her dress and lifting it up, which Jeremy tells her not to do.

Before they go out, a couple twists are revealed. The first is that they will be blindfolded. How the heck are they going to do that? Are they going to channel Amanda from Cycle Three? McKey says the blindfolds are partially see-through, so at least there's that. Ann Shoket, Editor-in-chief of Seventeen magazine, and Mr. Jay are there to help judge the challenge and Mr. Jay tells the girls that in an effort to ramp up the competition, one of them will be eliminated after the challenge. The prize is a shoot with designer Kira Plastinina and the winner can take two girls with them.

The show begins with Elina.....
