Last week’s episode of “America’s Next Top Model” ended the dreams of not one but two model hopefuls. Hannah was sent home after her disastrous walk in Jeremy Scott’s fashion show and Isis was eliminated after her photo shoot with Nigel failed to inspire him or the rest of the judges.
After panel, the remaining nine girls return home and are met with Clark’s photo on display. Clark smiles when she sees the image of herself rising from a pool of water and the comments from the judges listed beside it: “fierce,” “strong,” “blew me away.” The girls “ooh” and “ahh” at the photograph and ask her how she feels at that moment. She tells them that it “feels damn good.” When interviewed, Clark reveals that she knew she was better than being placed in the bottom and so she decided to just go all out on her next photo shoot and it’s that mentality that helped her to rise in the rankings.
In the kitchen, Samantha asks Clark again how she’s feeling. Clark tells her it feels great and in a voice that’s both joking and yet serious adds, “I know, it’s kind of lonely being on top.” Samantha wallows and says that she went from being third to being in the bottom two. In her interview, Samantha discusses how hard it was for her to hear the critique at judging. The show then flashes back to last week’s elimination as Tyra tells Samantha how upset designer Jeremy Scott was by Samantha’s performance during his runway show. Joslyn is quick to boost Samantha’s ego and reassures her that she only just seemed to be having fun while on the runway. Samantha promises that she’s not going to let what happened get her down or take it too personally. She vows to practice in order to stay in the competition through the end.
In the bathroom, Marjorie asks Analeigh if she’s nervous about the next photo shoot. Analeigh tells her that she doesn’t have negative thoughts. This upsets Marjorie and she asks Analeigh why she’s the only person in the house who feels so intimidated by the judges. In her interview, Marjorie reveals that the girls’ positive thoughts are a strange concept to her and because she’s from France, perhaps it’s a cultural difference. She’s feeling very nervous by the process and hopes the judges see potential within her. Marjorie discuses the nervousness she feels at panel and Analeigh does her best to comfort and put her at ease.
The girls rush to the living room to receive the latest offering of Tyra mail. Together they read, “Just because it doesn’t fit doesn’t mean you should be closed minded. Love, Tyra.” The girls speculate on their next challenge. They believe they’ll be modeling clothing that simply does not fit.
The next morning, Joslyn wakes and wanders to the British phone booth in the house to call her sister, Carlisia. Joslyn’s voice is thick with sadness as she tells her sister she had been performing well previously, but at this point in the competition, she’s no longer performing as well. Carlisia tells her she that she’ll be sent home if she doesn’t improve quickly. Joslyn weakly tells her that she’s trying and her sister replies, “Well, you better try harder.”
The girls then head to their.....
