America's Next Top Model Cycle 11: Lauren Brie "A Top Model Best"
Rankings by Jacob D.
As of September 11, 2008

This week's episode of America's Next Top Model saw some models soaring to new heights and others falling to new lows.
When Hannah called herself, "the typical white girl," and described black behavior, discussions of race and whether or not Hannah was prejudiced flooded the house.
The girls received lessons from Benny Ninja on extreme posing.
They used those techniques in a challenge for jewelry designer Tarina Tarantino and Elina won.
The photo shoot saw the girls posing while hanging from a ladder that was attached to a hot air balloon.
At judging panel, Lauren Brie received her photo first while Isis and Nikeysha were left as the bottom two.
Though Isis' look or photo didn't seem particularly inspirational to the judges this week, Nikeysha was eliminated when the judges didn't feel she learned her lesson from the previous week.

Lauren Brie
Current Ranking: 1         Previous Ranking: 12
I debated with myself about where to place Lauren this week. Last week, I said she seemed like a nice girl who would fade into the background and to make sure she stayed around a bit longer, she had to pull off a strong performance and come away with a strong photo. She delivered in spades and I knew I was going to move her up in the rankings due to her strong performance this week, what with her incredible performance at the photo shoot and the judges saying her photo this week was one of the best in Top Model history.
The question was how far up in the rankings I'd move her. Was this week's photo just a fluke? Or can Lauren be consistent and bring this level of skill to all of her photo shoots? In the end, I've decided to let Lauren have her moment and place her squarely at the top for the week, though her ranking next week will depend on if she can keep this momentum going. She does seem to really attack the photo shoots and doesn't seem afraid to experiment and that will work for her.

Elina
Current Ranking: 2         Previous Ranking: 4
Elina seems to be quite a strong presence in this competition. She wasn't involved in the drama nor was she a bundle of nerves, which I appreciate. She won the first challenge of the season and she blew everyone away with her incredible performance at the photo shoot and the picture she took away from it. It really is as if Elina is in the advanced class at, "Top Model Prep," like Tyra said. You're doing a phenomenal job, Elina!

Marjorie
Current Ranking: 3         Previous Ranking: 1
Marjorie didn't get a lot of airtime this episode and she wasn't called first at judging panel, but she is still seducing the judges with her modeling skills. She blew Mr. Jay away at the photo shoot and the judges absolutely adore her chameleon qualities. Therefore, she keeps a high ranking on my scoreboard and deservedly so.

Joslyn
Current Ranking: 4         Previous Ranking: 3
Joslyn is motoring along and doing a fine job in the competition thus far. The judges absolutely loved her photo, just like last week. They particularly liked how she made modeling look effortless in her photo and the way she throws herself into every photo shoot. If Joslyn stays on this path, she will go very far.

Brittany
Current Ranking: 5         Previous Ranking: 5
The judges weren't raving about Brittany like they were last week. Her photo was deemed pretty, but ordinary. However, her look, potential, and Tyra's belief that Brittany could be a high-earning, working model, even if in catalogues, saves her. Whether you're high fashion or not, if you get booked, you remain in the game.

Isis
Current Ranking: 6         Previous Ranking: 2
Isis fell victim to a common trap on this show and that is thinking too much or rather, talking the talk, but not walking the walk. Isis knew what she had to do, but had a hard time actually putting that into action. Her photo split the judges and her personal styling at judging panel left a lot to be desired. She landed in the bottom two this week, but I still don't think Isis is going anywhere anytime soon so she stays in the upper half of my rankings.

Samantha
Current Ranking: 7         Previous Ranking: 8
Samantha inches up a spot on the scoreboard because so far, she is doing a good job in the competition. The judges think she has what it takes and though they weren't thrilled with her photo for the week, they didn't really complain about much. They do want to see her get a makeover so next week could be a pivotal one for Sam.

McKey
Current Ranking: 8         Previous Ranking: 7
McKey mostly seems to be getting by on potential right now. You know, it's when the judges keep a girl around because of the potential she has to be a good model, whether or not she's actually delivering in photo shoots or challenges. Cycle Six's Brooke serves as a prime example of what I'm talking about because the judges wanted so much to keep her around based on her look, but eventually had to let her go when her output at the photo shoots just wasn't measuring up. I could easily see McKey following this path unless she can show that she does have good model instincts.

Clark
Current Ranking: 9         Previous Ranking: 10
I kind of liked Clark this week and for some reason, I kind of want to support her. She worked hard in the week's tasks and with her photo, the judges began to see her potential as a model. I think Clark could be an incredibly strong model and if she can build on what she started this week, including her care-free participation in the house games which shows her fun-loving side, I could find myself rooting for her.

Analeigh
Current Ranking: 10         Previous Ranking: 9
The judges want to like Analeigh and are interested in her, but they don't feel she is giving them enough. They still aren't raving about her photos or feel she is utilizing her full potential, so I'm putting her in tenth place for the week.
|
Hannah
Current Ranking: 11         Previous Ranking: 11
Hannah continues to be very awkward in challenges and photo shoots and doesn't seem to know what she's doing yet. She stays low in the rankings for the week.
|
Sheena
Current Ranking: 12         Previous Ranking: 6
Sheena did not land in the bottom two this week. All signs seemed to point her being in serious danger when she still seemed incredibly hoochie in the challenge, the photo shoot, and her general appearance at judging panel. What saved her is when, after the judges wondered if her breasts were fake, she stepped up and admitted that they were. That earned her some points from the judges who appreciated her honesty. However, I feel she dodged a HUGE bullet and honesty will not save her next time if she can't shake this hoochie image. That is why Sheena is in last place this week.
