America's Next Top Model Cycle 11: It Take More Than A Pretty Girl

This week's episode of America's Next Top Model brought us the model makeovers!
Most of the girls responded well to their designs, but Elina, who had worked hard in her life to cultivate a particular image for herself, felt unsure of her new redhead look.
On a personal note, Brittany missed her family and criticized Elina as an ungrateful child when Elina professed that she did not like her mother.
Analeigh struggled with her feelings that she was letting the judges down by not living up to her potential and Brittany felt frustrated that she was just being seen as a pretty girl and not a model.
The week's challenge saw the girls acting out an impromptu CoverGirl commercial and Hannah won. The photo shoot saw the girls posing in swimsuits.
At the judging panel, Elina's revelatory new look and incredible photo lead to her being called first when Tyra was handing out the girls' pictures. Analeigh and Brittany were left as the bottom two and though Analeigh continued to leave the judges disappointed, Brittany was eliminated when the judges felt she wasn't translating as a model in her pictures.
11 are left and next week seems to hold a double elimination of sorts. Who will go home and who will remain?

Elina
Current Ranking: 1         Previous Ranking: 2
I was going to rank Elina first on this week's scoreboard whether or not she was called first when Tyra handed out the photos, but that just confirmed it for me. Her makeover was revelatory. Her all-black ensemble and deadly serious personality made her seem drab in person, but that fiery red hairstyle has really opened her up. She earned tons of praise at the photo shoot and I was left completely in awe of her photo this week! It may end up being one of my all time favorite photos in Top Model history and for that, on top of her already strong track record, Elina moves to the head of the class.

Lauren Brie
Current Ranking: 2         Previous Ranking: 1
Lauren didn't receive much of a makeover, but she is really proving herself to be a strong model capable of taking amazing pictures. The judges questioned her personal presence this week, but if Lauren can build on that, she will be tough to beat.
|
Marjorie
Current Ranking: 3         Previous Ranking: 3
Marjorie's jittery personality could still use some work, but she continues to be incredibly photogenic. She looked so confident and womanly in her bikini photo, which shows a new side to her chameleon style, and is building up a stunning portfolio.
|
Joslyn
Current Ranking: 4         Previous Ranking: 4
Joslyn's infectious personality and great photos continue to keep her looking favorable to the judges. Joslyn is really performing well.
|
Samantha
Current Ranking: 5         Previous Ranking: 7
I'm starting to think Samantha could be a dark horse in this competition. She's not the number one girl in the competition, but she is quietly building up a great reputation. She continues to garner praise for modeling and photos and her makeover really transformed her into a high fashion model. I'm starting to really like her so I'm curious to see what else she's capable of.

McKey
Current Ranking: 6         Previous Ranking: 8
In last week's scoreboard, I said I felt that McKey was being kept around more for the potential she could have rather than what she was actually giving to the judges. Her makeover this week completely transformed her look for the better and in the photo shoot, she showed that she does have some modeling instincts. A marked improvement for McKey.

Isis
Current Ranking: 7         Previous Ranking: 6
Isis' stock is slowly slipping. The judges believe she has great potential, but the last two weeks have seen an underperforming Isis emerge. Last week, the judges felt her personal presence was lacking and her photo could've used more shape in her body and a stronger face. This week, Russell, the photographer for the week, felt she was difficult to shoot and though the judges liked Isis' look and pose in her photo, they continue to think her facial expressions need work.
|
Sheena
Current Ranking: 8         Previous Ranking: 12
Sheena seemed to finally learn her lesson and tone down her hoochie image. Her makeover really helps her looks more like a chic model and the judges liked her photo, though Nigel wants to see more than just the serene Sheena we've been seeing in her photos so far. Sheena makes a nice improvement over her performance from last week and I hope she continues to turn her fortunes around.
|
Clark
Current Ranking: 9         Previous Ranking: 9
I feel like Clark is almost there. She has the looks, she has a strong personal presence, but in each of her photo shoots, something has been off that has kept her from reaching the next level of her modeling abilities. Her strong presence will save her, though she does need a good photo here and there to really help her along.
|
Hannah
Current Ranking: 10         Previous Ranking: 11
Hannah still doesn't really know what she's doing. She's very awkward and the judges feel she is too uptight. Russell James, the photographer for the week, was frustrated with her at the photo shoot and Tyra noted a lack of variety in Hannah's film. I've also noticed that when Tyra is handing out the photos at the end of each judging panel, Hannah consistently ends up close to last, barely escaping the bottom two each time. Hannah could use a wake-up call right about now.
|
Analeigh
Current Ranking: 11         Previous Ranking: 10
Analeigh continues to disappoint the judges by not living up to her potential and she was almost eliminated for that. She needs to wake up and start throwing herself into the art of modeling rather than timidly tip-toeing around it or she will eventually be eliminated.
