ANTM: Fresh Faced Girls And Glammed Up Fashionistas
Rankings by Jacob D.
As of November 11, 2008
This week's episode of America's Next Top Model saw the girls greeting new opportunities while one said good-bye.

It was time for the girls to embark on go-sees and meet some of Amsterdam's fashion designers. Marjorie's nerves got the better of her, the designers had issues with Elina's personality and tattoos, and felt Samantha is too commercial.

The designers responded very well to McKey, but when she was late getting back to the starting point, she was disqualified from the challenge. This led to Analeigh winning after she had a number of successful meetings and she earned various fashion items and apparel from the designers.

The photo shoot, with Tyra as photographer, saw the girls taking, "Before and After," photos as natural, fresh faced girls and as glammed up fashionistas.

At judging panel, the judges were very impressed with Samantha's pictures and she was called first when Tyra handed out the photos.

Elina and Marjorie were left as the bottom two and though Marjorie's nerves were getting in her way, Elina was eliminated after her third consecutive trip to the bottom two when the judges felt she was still too stiff and controlling.

Only four girls remain and next week involves a challenge with a male model and drinks at their apartment. Models Gone Wild? Maybe, maybe not, but I'll see ya there.

Here are my rankings for the week...

McKey
Current Ranking: 1         Previous Ranking: 2

Once again it must be said that the last couple of weeks have really brought McKey to the forefront. I cannot say enough about this girl and her look and her potential. At the go-see challenge, EVERY designer was struck by her as soon as they saw her and it was only her tardiness that kept her from winning. At the photo shoot, Tyra and Mr. Jay loved working with her. At judging panel, the judges raved for her photos once again. They love her, I love her, everyone loves her. McKey has the sharpest, most unique, most high-fashion look of any of the girls this season and she continues to inspire the fashion luminaries around her. She has the look, she has the spirit, she has style, she's come into her own as a model, and McKey DEFINITELY has a shot at winning.

Last week, when I ranked Analeigh first, I pointed out various tells that could lead one to believe she may win, or is at least in the running. I feel compelled to do the same with McKey this week. The first thing that must be said is that she's the only girl left who has not been in the bottom two. Second, her personality and presence have never been an issue as it has with all of the other girls at some point. Third, she was late at the go-see challenge, but that was brushed aside due to her amazing look, potential, and the fact that the designers and judges were raving about her. Then, there's the edit she's received throughout the competition, starting out as someone who had the look, but not the model know-how, someone who has floated around the middle of the pack, and someone who has now blossomed into a real model. There's also her photo in the group shot at the end of the episode. Last week, I said Analeigh seemed strong because she was holding the center and glowing, but McKey stands tall and proud towards the back-center, commanding our attention.

Finally, and this is possible **spoiler** material, but I have heard rumors that an athletic girl wins or at least makes it to the finals. That could point to Analeigh with her ice skating background, but the most athletic girl in the bunch is McKey and McKey's been on a high lately. I haven't mentioned it at any point because it is just a rumor and a reader emailed me many weeks ago with the rumor that Sheena would make the final three, but that didn't happen even though I wish it had. I'm hoping this rumor is true and McKey at least makes the finals because she has quickly become my favorite girl for the season.
Analeigh
Current Ranking: 2         Previous Ranking: 2

Last week, Analeigh came to fruition as a model. This week, however, she seemed to be over-shadowed by someone else at every turn. Analeigh won the go-see challenge sort of by default when McKey, the one the designers were really raving about, was disqualified for arriving five minutes late back at the starting point. The prospect of having Tyra as the photographer at the photo shoot sort of drowned out her full potential and she turned in a sub-par, "Before," photo, though her, "After," photo was well-received. Then at judging panel, some of the judges questioned her presence and look. It makes you wonder, "Yes, Analeigh is the most well-rounded, but is she the most inspirational from a fashion standpoint?" That's a question that Analeigh will need to address if she wants to make that last push into the finals and possibly win. Otherwise, she'll end up being over-shadowed again at the 11th hour.
Samantha
Current Ranking: 3         Previous Ranking: 3
Samantha seemed to be plateauing when the designers at the go-sees deemed her to be too commercial and the judges still had issues with her personal presence at judging panel. However, they absolutely flipped for her photos, particularly her, "before," picture. Nigel said it was his favorite picture of her yet and she was called first, for her second time, when Tyra was handing out the photos. Samantha has what it takes and can morph into a great model. Now, she just needs work on how she presents herself to clients and the judges.
Marjorie
Current Ranking: 4         Previous Ranking: 4

At this point, despite all of Marjorie's potential and all the great photos she's come up with throughout the competition, it's going to take a miracle for her to win. I have never seen a girl on this show whose nerves have gripped her and defeated her like what has happened with Marjorie. She psyches herself out, focuses on the negative, and convinces herself that she's worthless despite all the glowing praise she has received. This far into the competition, that's not a good thing especially since she pretty much gave up during the go-sees and none of the designers wanted to book her for anything. Plus, the judges are starting to get fed up with her, most notably when Nigel said he also would not book her for any jobs with her being in such an emotional state. She is at a crossroads because now that she has flopped in Europe, she can longer use her, "European Upbringing," as an excuse, depriving her of one of her shields, and she must now really examine her life. She's a lovely girl so it's a shame that she's so hard on herself.
