America's Next Top Model 9: Here's The Updated Rankings

This week on America's Next Top Model, instead of a two part season premiere, we only got the introductory episode.
The 33 semi-finalists were flown to the Caribbean and were grilled. Some girls made good impressions while others caused tension.
After a cut to 20, Tyra and the Jays deliberate and decide who will be among the 13 finalists for the season.
Tune in next week for the start of this competition. It's an interesting group of gals and my opinion has changed on a lot of them with this episode.

Heather
Current Ranking: 1 - Previous Ranking: 10
Heather is a 21 year old college student from Valparaiso, IN.
I put Heather in first for a few reasons, but they all lead back to one thing: I think Heather could be poised to be the revelation this season, kind of like Michelle was in Cycle Seven. Think about it. There has been no one like Heather in any of the previous seasons. She has a unique story in that she has Ausberger's Syndrome, a minor form of autism, so she has the "working through a disability" angle. She has poor posture, but the judges think she can use that to hit awkward poses. She is a clean slate for the judges and handlers to build up and mold. She wants to represent for the underdogs who sit in the shadows of life which is a noble thing and she knows what it's like firsthand. Finally, despite all that's wrong with her, the judges think she looks like a model in her photos and see tons of potential in her. I think she is capable of great things and I want to see how she fares.
Chantal
Current Ranking: 2 - Previous Ranking: 11
Chantal is a 19 year old student from Austin, TX.
Her pre-season photo had me worried because I thought her face looked dead. In the semi-final episode, she seemed to be a favorite of Tyra and the Jays. They felt she was beautiful and a complete natural as a model. They were also impressed with her knowledge of the industry. Chantal will be one to watch!
Janet
Current Ranking: 3 - Previous Ranking: 4
Janet is a 22 year old aesthetician from Bainbridge, GA.
Janet has a fantastic personality and sense of humor. She has a strong look and Tyra and the Jays flipped for her photos in the deliberations. Miss J even thinks that Janet doesn't need a makeover! That puts Janet toward the top for now.
Jenah
Current Ranking: 4- Previous Ranking: 5
Jenah is an 18 year old student from Farmington, CT.
I was wanting to like Jenah, but I saw a lot of cockiness in her in this episode and that turned me off. However, she gets a ringing endorsement from Tyra and the Jays for her high fashion look. The judges say they want a girl who can do it all, but they tend to favor the high fashion girls for most of the competition so Jenah will be around for a while unless she does poorly in the photos.
Victoria
Current Ranking: 5 - Previous Ranking: 13
Victoria is a 20 year old college student from New Haven, CT.
Victoria surprised me in this episode. I found myself responding to her in a positive fashion. She's very shy and timid, but she knows what she wants and is ready to achieve it. She's kind of the girl that makes you want to root for her. Tyra and the Jays also love her look, most notably her long face, and think there is potential in her. I'm thinking she'll be this cycle's version of Brooke from Cycle Six. You know, the shy girl with the odd look that seduces the judges.
Kimberly
Current Ranking: 6 - Previous Ranking: 1
Kimerbly is a 20 year old college student from Ocala, FL.
I dropped Kimberly down because I'm just not sure how the judges feel about her. At one point, they said they love her and later they mumble something about her. I, however, think she is a star. I think she has great versatility and a fantastic personality. She's the one I most want to see in action.
Sarah
Current Ranking: 7 - Previous Ranking: 3
Sarah is a 20 year old college student from Heath, MA.
Tyra and the Jays love her face and body, but Tyra is still hung up on the fact that she seems small for a plus-sized model. Sarah has a fantastic personality and is willing to do what it takes to win, without being bitchy, so I think she'll be fine. I know I'm rooting for her.
Saleisha
Current Ranking: 8 - Previous Ranking: 2
Saleisha is a 21 year old receptionist from Los Angeles.
I like Saleisha. She is a sweet girl and very real. However, much like Bianca, I didn't really hear anything said in this episode that indicates her as a contender. Still, I think she'll do well and am keeping her in the middle of the rankings.
Lisa
Current Ranking: 9 - Previous Ranking: 12
Lisa is a 20 year old dancer from Jersey City, NJ. Hmmm.
I love Lisa's slender body and clean lines. Her vulnerability is touching, but she still has a certain blandness to her. I'll need to see her in the competition, but I like her for now.
Bianca
Current Ranking: 10 - Previous Ranking: 7
Bianca is an 18 year old college student from Queens.
Bianca seems like a fun girl and I like her right now. However, I haven't heard the judges say anything that really indicates her as a contender.
Ebony
Current Ranking: 11 - Previous Ranking: 9
Ebony is a 20 year old nursing student from Chicago.
Ebony is the prime candidate for diva of the season. However, when she spoke about her life growing up and started crying, I felt sympathy for her. A part of me wants to like her, but a part of me is put off by her bad attitude. It's kind of like deja vu with Eva from Cycle Three because she came in the same way. I don't think Ebony is as likable as Eva right now, but I do think she is quite fierce. She has a lot of potential, but that hard edge will have to be smoothed
Ambreal
Current Ranking: 12 - Previous Ranking: 6
Ambreal is a 19 year old college student from Dallas, TX.
Oddly enough, even though we saw Ambreal in action for the first time, she didn't leave a real impression on me. Tyra said her over-the-top walk can be worked into something great, but later Mr. Jay said she looks short even though she's tall. That's kind of odd and I'm not sure how she'll work that out. Anyways, Ambreal has not left a strong impression on me so I'm moving her down.
Mila
Current Ranking: 13 - Previous Ranking: 8
Mila is a 20 year old college grad from Boston.
I'm not sure how the judges feel about her. When it was her turn to be interviewed, Tyra wondered if she was one dimensional and Miss J mocked her walk. After that, the only thing I heard anyone say about her is that she's beautiful. She's lost in the shuffle right now.
Jacob D. is a twenty-something native of Austin Tx who spends his time
listening to music, posting on Austin based messageboards, playing
video games, and watching TV. Jacob also enjoys reading Shonen Jump,
Garfield and Calvin & Hobbes strips, playing Texas Hold 'em, drawing
cartoon chickens, and tending to his neopets. Though shy in real
life, he loves to sound off on his favorite shows and enjoys
interacting with other fans.
