Age Of Love: Will He Choose the Drama or a Hot Mama?
Episode 2 Recap by Donna Emery
June 27, 2007
This week on Age of Love, Mark's choices doubled in number and halved in age.
As we saw at the end of last week's premiere episode, our hero Mark Philippousis had found out that he didn't have to choose just from the six lovely older women that he'd already met and liked, but from six lovely younger women, in their 20s.
It's a dirty job, but somebody's got to do it.
Mark seemed up to the task, at first. He said that though the new girls were a "curve ball", he was ready to get on with the "wild ride". Host Mark Consuelos gave him only a teasing look at the ladies, told him to rest and meet them in the morning. Three guesses what our hero dreamt about.
When the ladies went back to their rooms, they were full of speculation about their chances of trouncing the older women. Mary charmingly predicted that Mark would prefer them to the older ladies since "we can still have children." Someone else said, in mock horror: "my MOM is 40." All of the younger ladies agreed that there wouldn't be any problem for one of them to win Mark's heart.
The next morning, the 40-year olds were wondering what Mark was doing. If they'd only known. Kelli guessed that he was doing "something interesting." That certainly narrowed it down, and I think they would have found his pastime verrrrrr-y interesting.
Mark was scheduled to meet the ladies, but instead of an elegant encounter in evening wear such as he'd experienced with the older women, Mark got to meet the younger gals while they were wearing bathing suits and high heels. In no other place on earth - except for beauty pageants, and the first episode of "Beauty and the Geek" - would a man choose a date this way.
Lauren, age 27 met him first. He thought she looked "hot."
Adelaide, age 26 was next. She revealed that her last relationship had lasted 4 months. She said she hadn't met anyone in awhile. She charmed Mark by revealing that she'd also been born in Australia, and that she liked tennis.
Amanda, age 25 said she'd been through a lot of difficult things, and was ready to meet someone special. Mark liked her smile.
Mary, age 24 said that when she's nervous she stutters.
Tessa, age 23 said that she has a great deal of humor. She is the only blonde in the bunch. She also said she has "great morals" and that she needs a person who has some intellectual depth. Mark said he had to force himself to keep eye contact, because he kept wanting to check out her cleavage.
Megan was the youngest, at 21. She said that sometimes people judge her because of her age, but that she didn't think she was as naïve as they expected her to be. Mark thought she has gorgeous blue eyes.
The girls and Mark shared some colorful drinks and then jumped into the pool. At first, Mark was ecstatic. "Who wouldn't want to be me?" he wondered. Yet, when the girls were quiet and didn't initiate chitchat, Mark found the situation growing awkward. He even began to think fondly of the older ladies, and wonder about what they were doing.
What they were doing was holding a raucous dance in the kitchen of their suite. One of them squirted Cool Whip and chocolate sauce in her mouth. They looked like they were having a lot more fun than Mark and the girls.
But Mark was determined.....
