Age Of Love: She Who Laughs Last Gets Dessert
Episode 3 Recap by Donna Emery
July 4, 2007

This week on Age of Love, the two groups of ladies tried to give each other a run for the money. One of them succeeded.

At the end of last week's episode, tennis star Mark Philippousis had narrowed his field of dating prospects down to 5 20-something ladies and 5 40-something ladies.

He didn't seem any worse for the wear.

The dating adventures continued this week as the rivalry between the two groups intensified. The older ladies were very unhappy at the prospect of having competition from the younger gals. One of them said: "if he wants one of those girls, then he isn't someone that I'd want."

The younger ladies had no better opinion of their elders. Mary said that most men choose women who are close to their own age, or younger. Amanda cattily remarked that 48-year old Jen is older than her mom.

Host Mark was chatting with Mark about the eliminations, in order to prepare him for this week's dates. He noted that when Mark had eliminated 40-something Angela, her teammates had hugged her and shown some real support. In contrast, the elimination of 20-something Lauren had earned nary a blink of an eye from her younger colleagues.

He went on to tell Mark that before the main dates of the week, he would get to choose two women to dine alone with for lunch. Mark thought for a few minutes and said he would choose Kelli and Amanda. He said that Kelli seemed "more sexual than the others", and seemed "like a lot of fun." About Amanda he said "she seems genuine. She is always smiling, and that turns me on."

Each of the ladies got a text message from Mark, and it led each of them to believe she had an individual date with Mark. Amanda was thrilled that she'd get time with him that didn't include interruptions. Kelli said she wants lots more alone time with Mark.

When the ladies arrived at the restaurant, they soon realized that they both had been invited to the same date. Kelli tried to greet Amanda, but Amanda was too upset by the sight of Kelli to respond. Host Mark greeted them and told them that Mark would, indeed be having lunch with each of them alone - but at the same time. They would be seated at opposite sides of the restaurant. Mark would be able to go to either table as often or seldom as he wished. He'd have a watch that was set for an hour. When the watch went off, the hour would be over. Whoever he was sitting with at the end of the hour would get the pleasure of having extra "alone" time with Mark, during dessert.

He first sat with Amanda, and asked if she wanted something to drink besides water. She ordered champagne. He joked to the waitress that it was a special occasion: their first date. He ordered chicken. While he drank with Amanda, he could clearly see Kelli on the other side of the room, and he began to feel as though he should go to her. Amanda wasn't happy, since she wanted him all to herself.

But that's not the way the game worked, and Mark did go over to Kelli's table. Kelli and Mark laughed a lot during the initial part of their meal. He ordered pasta with her. During their encounter, it was she who asked him if he wanted a drink. She began telling him about her real estate business. After a few minutes, he went back to sit with Amanda.

Amanda told him that she was a dancer, and talked about that.

Kelli ate just a few bites of her food, then said she wasn't hungry.

Amanda has a great appetite, and says she often eats pizza, chocolate cake and ice cream.

While this date was going on, the rest of the ladies were meeting Host Mark at the pool. They were told that they had to "create a perfect date" for the other team. He encouraged both teams to "make it difficult."

Megan rolled her eyes and said "all's fair in love and war."

Maria was determined that "the twenty-year olds will see what the forty-year olds are capable of!"

Kelli was asking Mark about his dating life.....
