Age Of Love: She Who Laughs Last Gets Dessert
Episode 3 Recap by Donna Emery
July 4, 2007
Kelli was asking Mark about his dating life, and asked if he'd dated older women before. He said no. He said that this experience had been his first with older women, but that he was enlightened by the ladies. Mark realized during this talk that the watch was getting toward its end, and became a little restless at the thought of Amanda waiting. Kelli didn't know what time it was, but desperately wanted to keep him at her table. She began chatting aimlessly about being a singer, performing in Las Vegas and about her desire to have children. As Mark began to shift in his chair to get up, she suddenly leaned forward and told him that he had something on his face, and wiped it off. As she did, the watch went off.
Bravo, Kelli.
At first, Mark wanted to keep the knowledge of the time's end from Kelli, but he finally told her that she'd won the right to have dessert with him. He told her that he would first walk Amanda to her limo. Amanda was very disappointed that she'd lost the contest, and the chance to spend more time with Mark. As they reached the limo, he asked her if he could give her a kiss. She consented, and he said he'd liked kissing her, and looked forward to doing it again.
Kelli said she was thrilled that Mark had chosen to have dessert with her. To be fair, it looked like she chose for him, but he didn't look too miserable.
Back at the suite, the younger girls were still making catty remarks about the older team.
"What's a synonym for old?" asked Tessa.
"Decrepit," someone responded.
Megan was sure that the date Mark spent with them would make the younger gals look better to him.
Over at the 40's territory, Jen was leading the group is thinking of a date for the younger girls. "What could make them look bad?" she wondered.
Someone suggested that it should be "something where they'd have to use their brains."
Another woman kindly countered that it was possible that some of the younger girls were smart. One of them suggested bowling, but this was vetoed, because they didn't want the younger girls "bending over in front of Mark."
Jayanna was amused. "This might get ugly!" she laughed.
What the older gals finally came up with was to send the younger girls to a child care center. When they got there, they wondered why, but Mark soon explained that the other team wanted them to "spend time with people close to their own age." The "date" would be spent with 20 lively young children, at a birthday party.
As the children burst out of the playhouse with more energy than Speedy Gonzales, Tessa admitted that the choice of the date had been "cleverly plotted." Megan shrugged and figured that any way to be with Mark was OK with her.
Mark noticed last week's favorite, Adelaide as she played with the kids. He said that she's beautiful, and that she has blue eyes. He said she looked like she is good with kids, and that she liked spending time with them.
Mary wasn't as comfortable. She said she'd do better if she could be alone with Mark. She tried to engage him in conversation, and told him about how her sister has kids that she plays with. Mark was barely attentive, and quickly walked away to play "duck, duck goose" with the kids. Mary was hurt, and on the verge of tears.
Mark said that he saw a different side of the 20-year olds during the date. He asked Adelaide to ride in the car with him. She was glad to ride with him.
Tessa was sad, and said she feels like "one in a sea of many girls."
As Mark rode with Adelaide, he told her that he thought she is genuine, and that she looks like she's always happy. She said she can't help it. When he kissed her, she said she felt giddy.
Back with the other ladies, Amanda was shaken from the confidence that she'd gained by Mark's kiss. "I like him, and if he likes her better, I'll be hurt."
Adelaide spurred further jealousy by.....
