Age Of Love: Was That a Kiss or a Kiss-Kiss?
Episode 4 Recap by Donna Emery
July 11, 2007

Jayanna reached the yacht first, and earned a hug from Mark. Amanda came second, and got a hug, too. She told him, in Spanish, that she was glad to be there with him. Kelli made it in time to claim the third spot.

The others were downcast. Mary said that it made her want to cry. This was a familiar theme for Mary. Jen was upset with herself, because she hadn't done her best.

The lucky three ladies prepared for their time with Mark by dressing up. Kelli said she wanted to look glamorous for him. Amanda said she was ready to be spoiled and pampered. Mark seemed to echo their wishes, since he said he wanted everything to be romantic.

Back at the suite, Maria was lamenting her loss. She said she'd really hoped to have that special time, since she had hoped to connect with Mark. Tessa pouted that she hasn't really gotten to know him, and that her ankle might prevent her from doing so. She mused that her only chance would be to win special time with him.

The three ladies on the yacht had earned the right to have dinner with Mark. They divided the time into each of the three courses. Kelli got to start by sharing an appetizer with him. They seemed to be having a great time. She told him that she hadn't been sure of their connection at first, but "first impressions aren't always the best." Mark agreed with that. He said that he feels easy and comfortable with Kelli. He gave her a few little kisses. It was the start of many kisses to be given, during this episode.

Amanda figured out that he was kissing Kelli, and got jealous. She'd somehow thought that she'd be his special "kissing girl." What a surprise. Mark is actually romancing another woman - on a dating show!

Jayanna won the dinner slot, and told Mark that she had "butterflies." She said that she is old enough to deserve a great guy, so she concluded that she deserved Mark. She told him that he is compassionate, and has a great heart. She said she felt there was chemistry between them. She joked that she was trying to get him to stay with her, since she knew he didn't want to have dessert with Amanda. He laughed, but I doubt he agreed.

When Amanda arrived, it certainly seemed like Jayanna was wrong. He told Amanda that he thought she was beautiful, and that he liked her very much. She was enthralled. "He is so gentle," she gushed. "When he looks at me….." She murmured in Spanish, and translated for him to let him know her feelings. Mark wasn't paying much attention; his thoughts were plain: "Should I kiss her now? Now? Maybe I'll just kiss her now." So, he did. He noted that the stars were out, and the night was romantic. Amanda was clearly transported, and said it was the most amazing kiss.

The next morning, Amanda was still on cloud nine, and said she hadn't "come down from the night before."

Mark wanted to see more of the ladies, so he decided he wanted to see them in action. He invited them to change into tennis clothes and meet him on the court. It was here that I finally saw some true emotion from Mark. When he plays tennis, his energy is amazing. His body is beautiful, but the strength and grace of his tennis style is really wonderful to watch - even for someone who is bored by the game itself.

Mark said that he knew that some of the ladies might not play tennis at all, but he wanted to find a lady who isn't afraid to try something new. Tessa pouted because she couldn't participate in the game, but Mark was courtly as he escorted her to an umbrella-ed lounge chair. Jen said she hadn't done too well in the triathlon, so she wondered if she wouldn't be just as inept here on the tennis court. She admired his looks as he swung the racket. I can't blame her for that.

Kelli was amazed that the twenty-year olds were so "flirty." Mary had no clue how to execute a forehand swing with the racket, so gallant Mark took her arms in his and showed her how. She seemed charmed, but uninformed. Tessa continued to pout.

Mark said that the ladies would have a tennis tournament. The first match slated Maria and Jayanna against Mary and Megan. Mary was amused by the fact that tennis was played with balls. Imagine that. Balls. Mary found that really funny. Jayanna and Maria just vowed to win, and did win, which made Mary want to cry. Not exactly a surprise, to anyone who'd been watching Mary throughout this series.

Tessa decided that being on the sidelines wasn't going to do it for her. She said she was going to play tennis. Mark admired her courage and determination. Her determination may have been noticed, but she and Amanda got creamed by Kelli and Jen. The forty-somethings only won bragging rights, because Tessa's courage won her some special time with Mark. The older ladies were disappointment that their victory had gone unnoticed.

Mary observed that the older women were "stepping it up because they are feeling threatened." She went on to say that they could try to win Mark's heart, but they wouldn't win.

Back at the suite, Jayanna was losing her patience with the younger ladies. "Ever since you've moved in, you've been complaining. You act like prima donnas."

Mary was terribly offended by such "harsh" words. "Don't say that to me. I wouldn't say that to you."

Jayanna wasn't budging. "Well, I did say it and I'm not taking it back."

Can you guess what Mary did? .....
