Age Of Love: When His Moon Hit Their Eyes: Amore!
Episode 6 Recap by Donna Emery
July 25, 2007
When the gang arrived at the campsite, Mark pulled out some wine. There never seems to be an alcohol shortage on these dating shows. He thanked the ladies for spending time with him. As the ladies got their tents up, Mark tried to show them how easy it is to use the matches. Instead, he practically burnt his eyebrows off.
He asked Maria to take a walk with him, to get some firewood. Maria took the opportunity to finish what she'd begun to say at the last elimination ceremony.
She told him she hadn't gotten to say all that she'd wanted to say. Mark said he was glad that she had told him that he hadn't opened up. He said that he likes Maria, and that he is excited to be with her. "I like who you are," he assured her. She thanked him, and they shared a kiss.
Mark said that Maria has a great vibe, and that she's very spiritual.
After Mark and Maria came back with the firewood, he invited Jen to talk to him inside the tent. She had been wondering if she'd be leaving next. She told him that she didn't want to take the chance that she would leave without telling him that he is wonderful. She said she is attracted to him. He must have felt the same way, because they shared a kiss. She said she hadn't expected to have a romantic encounter in the tent, but she thought that Mark had reassured her of their connection.
There was lots more drinking going on, and it evolved into raucous game of Truth or Dare. At one point, the gang dared Jayanna to "do the Penguin." This apparently involves walking with your underwear pulled down to your knees so that your butt is exposed and you walk like a penguin. Jayanna was fine with showing her behind. She said that she's 39 but doesn't care if she shows it. When the bottle spun and pointed to Mark, he was also dared to do the Penguin. He hesitated a bit, but finally walked a little distance away and "dropped trou". The older girls cheered while the younger girls gaped. Amanda said she had a great view of "his very white butt." Maria said it looked good to her, but she felt like maybe she should touch it to be sure.
There were lots of shouted words between the ladies. Some were "bleeped." Mark said he'd known about the squabbles among the girls at the suite, but now he was in the middle of them.
Later on, at the fire, Mark asked Maria if she is turned on by him. She turned serious, and turned so that her legs were stretched over his thighs and she and Mark were facing each other. She said that when he "showed up like this, without caring what anyone else is thinking," that turned her on. The younger girls were drinking and laughing, but Maria stuck by her declaration.
It looked as though Maria thought Jen was laughing back at the younger girls, and Maria got very upset. She said she takes life seriously, and yelled at Jen. Jen got upset herself, and walked away. Mark went out to her, and tried to comfort her. He convinced her to come back, and Maria and Jen exchanged apologies. Maria said that she was sorry that she'd gotten so intense. Jayanna predicted that Maria wouldn't be part of the game for much longer.
Mark decided that Megan would get the next walk. He called her a "cutie", who "says funny things." As they walked, he realized that Megan had had a bit too much to drink. He used her tipsy state to get some truth from her. They sat in a tree and spooned as he asked her how she feels about him. She said it's still hard for her to decide. She said she couldn't get used to dating someone who is also dating someone the same age as her mom. He seemed upset by this, because he kept Megan here while he may have sent away someone who cares about him.
At the end of the walk he decided that Megan is a sweetheart, and wondered if her feelings will change. When they got back to the campsite, he warned her that she was cut off from drinking any more booze.
Jayanna had her usual biting evaluation of Megan: "she's super young!" Mark asked Jayanna to take a walk with him. He had a special treat to show her. No, not his butt again.
Amanda was still jealous. She went into the tent and confided to Maria "he looks at me and I feel sure of his feelings. He held my hand and kissed me but I am naïve. Jayanna said I am not really special to him. I feel silly. I don't want to do this anymore." Maria seemed sympathetic, but I can remember Mary feeling the same way, last episode.
When Mark reached his destination, it was a grove, which had been decorated as a maypole full of twinkling white lights, complete with a disco ball. It was lovely, and Jayanna was touched. They danced together, then snuggled in a hammock and kissed.
Jayanna told him that she felt weird competing for his affection. She told him that the younger girls were "head over heels" in love with him, but she thought maybe they were a bit starry-eyed.
Amanda was fed up. She hadn't gotten any "alone time" with Mark and was tired of waiting. She decided to walk and look for him and Jayanna. When she could not find them, she decided to wait inside Mark's tent for him. When Mark and Jayanna got back to the campsite, she thought maybe she'd end up spending the night in his tent. But he told her good night and went in - to find Amanda.
Jayanna saw them and heard them. She said that Amanda asked Mark "where have you been," and compared her tone to that of a jealous wife. Mark did seem surprised that Amanda was there, but snuggled next to her anyway. Amanda pouted that she felt a bit naïve, trusting Mark. She told him what Jayanna had told the girls: although Mark said special things to all of them, none of them were really special to him. He told her that the words were ridiculous, and said it was nice lying next to her.
When morning came, Amanda had spent the night in Mark's tent. She said she hadn't planned to do that. Mark said he'd found out some things during the past evening. He began the day by making pancakes for the girls. Maria teasingly asked if everyone had been "good" last night. Jayanna asked Amanda where she'd slept. She pointed to Mark's tent. Jayanna found that "interesting." Jen said she wasn't worried because Mark had given her the assurance that she'd needed.
Jayanna didn't seem worried either. She said that she knew Amanda hadn't been invited into the tent, and that "Mark doesn't like aggressive women." Judging by that, only Jen and I are safe."
Mark reminded us that the elimination was going to be there at the campsite. He said that there were now some "obvious choices." He first asked Jen to go for a walk. He briefly reminded her of what had happened with Maria. He said that the way she'd handled it showed him what kind of woman she is. He said that he really liked what he saw and asked her to stay. Jen agreed. She says she sees "the possibility of love" with Mark.
Next, he talked to Amanda. He said that what had happened between them in the tent was nice. He said he's very comfortable with her, and asked her to stay. She agreed.
She cooed that Mark has "a huge heart, and so many good qualities."
Before she went to talk to Mark, Maria said she doesn't feel safe. But he told her that he knows that she is who she is. "You are so appealing." He asked her to stay. She agreed.
When he met with Megan, he teased her that he was surprised she hadn't fallen on the rocks yet. He teased her further about her drinking, but said he really likes her. She admitted that the drinks had made her crazy. He must have been able to look beyond that, because he asked her to stay.
Which left Jayanna to be eliminated. Who'd a thunk it? Certainly not her.
When Megan returned to the campsite, Jayanna asked her why she was smiling. Megan shrugged and said that she guessed that Mark wanted to talk to Jayanna, now. When Mark came down to meet Jayanna, she saw right away that he didn't look happy.
"I've always been honest with you," he began. "Last night I heard words that hurt me. You've been playing games at the house." He told her about Amanda's claim that she'd said that his words to each of the ladies didn't make them special.
She seemed stunned by the accusation. She said she doesn't play "girl games." She said she'd been trying to caution the ladies to be genuine about their feelings.
He didn't buy her explanation. He said he had really wanted her to be among the ladies who advanced, but finding out about her "games" had hurt him and caused him to decide to eliminate her.
Jayanna remained strong and said she knows her own heart. She walked away, convinced that she'd done nothing but tell the ladies the truth.
Next week, the final four ladies continue to try to win Mark, and Megan refuses to do something. Ooohhh.,….. what could it be?
