Add model snob to
the rest of the list.
On episode two of The Bachelor: On the Wings of Love, the ladies move into the mansion.

Chris tells the girls not everyone will get a date with Jake, and immediately this season’s crazy girl Michelle starts to quiver. Pick me, pick me, pick me!

She’s not on the first date card. Gia, Rozlyn, Valishia, Corrie, Christina, and Ashleigh pile in the SUV limo for a group date. Christina says it’s her first date with her future husband, which automatically means she’ll be eliminated, if not today, then soon.

Jake’s good pal Hal, who’s a fashion editor for In Style magazine, is waiting at a ritzy Santa Monica hotel to do a photo shoot of the girls. Corrie’s thrilled since In Style is her fashion Bible. Rozlyn reminds us, in case we’ve forgotten since last week, that she’s a fashion model. Bridal. She sneers that Gia is more of a lingerie model. I don’t know the modeling hierarchy, but apparently to Rozlyn, bridal is near the top.

Christina interviews that her hands are dripping with sweat. She feels out of place among the professional models and former pageant contestants. She’s nervous. Very nervous. I believe her.

Rozlyn wears a short silver glitter dress and seems very comfortable in front of the camera. She loses any class points when she throws a leg over Jake and poses with her short dress hiked up. The pose is more honeymoon than bridal.

The other girls all look great for their photo shoot. Jake realizes Christina is nervous. Maybe he heard one of her half-dozen camera interviews saying so, and he tries to make her feel comfortable. While he poses with her, Rozlyn and Gia are secretly slipping headshots into Jake’s friend Hal’s pocket.

Then all the girls pose in two teams playing tug-of-war with Jake’s arms, and our bachelor narrowly escapes being torn in two.

By the time the date moves to a pool party with all the girls in bikinis, Christina is a tearful, tipsy mess. She tells Jake what a great guy he is and for some reason hums the theme to Twilight Zone.

Jake notes she’s had a bit to drink. I don’t blame her for feeling like it’s Regular Girl vs. The Models. I wanted to cheer for her, but she did herself in. Showing a little insecurity can make a guy feel protective, but obsessing about your inadequacy throughout a whole date isn’t really a winning tactic.

She also didn’t win in the personality stakes. I’m sure she’s a great girl, and in real life, she might be a better match for Jake than, say, Gia, but there was no way she was getting a rose. If she hadn’t already done it, she lost him at Twilight Zone theme. It’s NEVER a good thing for a guy to associate that theme with a girl.

Rozlyn interrupts Christina’s alone.....
