The Bachelor: Jason Is A Jerk, And I Am Baffled
Recap by RTVC Senior Staff Writer Jenny Lane
March 4, 2009
Earlier this week, we watched Bachelor Jason tell us over and over (and over and over) that he was in love with two women, Melissa and Molly. After sending Molly home, Jason had a meltdown, sobbed, took a deep breath, and then proposed to Melissa.
During the ATFR that immediately followed the final rose ceremony, Jason gave a well-rehearsed speech to Chris about how he thought he made the right decision, but once he and Melissa got to spend more time together, their chemistry changed. He told Chris that he hasn’t been able to stop thinking about Molly even though he tried, and so he had decided to break up with Melissa and ask Molly for another chance.
Melissa was brought out, and Jason gave her a similar speech. He broke up with her, Melissa was understandably angry, and she gave him back the ring (which I suspect he in turn gave back to ABC). Then Molly trotted out and told Chris that she wanted answers about why Jason picked Melissa, and when he knew that he was going to pick her. Once Jason joined Molly and Chris, he told her that he had just broken up with Melissa because he can’t stop thinking about her, and that he wants them to give things another chance.
Molly acted surprised for a few minutes, and then told Jason that this is what she had been dreaming of. She agreed to give things a chance between them, and the next thing you know, her hand is on his knee and they’re making out.
So now, all the rumors that have been circulating seem to be confirmed. To put it in a nutshell, Jason is a jerk, and I am baffled as to why all these girls seemed to be falling head over heels for him.
Tonight, we have a second ATFR show, so that we can find out how Jason and Molly are doing, as if we really care. I’ve heard that Melissa has refused to participate in this show, which is the smartest thing she’s done in a long time.
Chris gets things started tonight by saying hello to the studio audience. He then reminds us what happened the night before “in a stunning turn of events.” Chris tells us that it has been six weeks since Jason’s turn of heart, and so tonight we’re going to find out how he and Molly are doing.
After a ten minute recap of what has happened so far, Chris welcomes some of the bachelorettes to the stage. Tonight we have Naomi, Kari, Nikki, Erica and Stephanie.
Nikki says it was heartbreaking to watch the finale. Stephanie says when she saw Jason crying on the balcony, “it was better to have loved and lost, than never loved,” which doesn’t really seem to apply to the situation at all. She amazingly stands up for Jason’s decision, and says she thinks it was right for him to follow his heart.
Erica says “Jason, you should have.....
