The Bachelor 11: And The Lucky Lady Isn't.... Finale Recap by Eileen Witker November 20, 2007
The finale of The Bachelor has been touted for weeks as the "most shocking finale in Bachelor history" and there have been hints that Brad has a last minute change of heart. There has been much speculation on the internet regarding this episode, and I was really anxious to see what transpired. Here's how it went:
Brad is at home in and tells us this is the most important and exciting time. He wants his family to meet the women but he is confused because they are both perfect and he is head over heels with both of them. He does not say head over heels in love, though we meet his Mom, Chad and another brother who is not named but whom we find out later is Wes. Brad tells them about DeAnna who will be arriving and says that she is strong and independent. Mom asks where she is from and Brad says Atlanta, which pleases Mom.
Enter Deanna whom Brad greets and asks if she is ready to face the firing squad. Good going, Brad, way to make a girl feel at ease! Mom tells her she wants to know who and what she is. She also wants to call her DeeDee since Brad corrected their pronunciation of her name. Brad is trying to play it cool and mentions that DeAnna is a bartender. Chad says they could be getting a sister in law and new employee all in one. Bet she loved hearing that.
Mom says that watching Brad with DeAnna she can see how much he cares. She has been watching his body language and he can't stop touching and petting her. Mom is glad that he feels like this.
Mom quizzes DeAnna and asks her if she is in love with him. DeAnna says she is. Mom asks if she is expecting a proposal; DeAnna says she is hoping for one. Mom asks about family and DeAnna says she would like to have three children and family is very important to her. DeAnna tells us this could be her future mother-in-law and that she loved her because she reminded her of her mother.
It's time for DeAnna to leave, but the brothers have something to say to Brad and pull him aside As Mom and DeAnna watch, they push him in the pool. Some brotherly jousting follows and all three men end up in the pool.
DeAnna says she felt so comfortable with Brad's family and she loved them and felt they loved her. Brad walks her to the awaiting vehicle, and tells her that his family loved her. He apologizes for being dripping wet but hugs her and tells her he doesn't want to let her go. She says, in the vehicle, that she feels like happily ever after is going to happen but she is worried about Jenni. She doesn't want Brad to pick the wrong person.
After DeAnna's departure Brad's brothers say DeAnna is hard to beat. But Brad says they will see what a difficult situation he is in when they meet Jenni.
Jenni interviews that she might be meeting future mother in law today and her heart is beating huge
Back at the house, Wes asks when they will meet Jenni and on cue she arrives at the house. Brad rushes out to meet her and says he is on cloud nine like he always is with her. He relates that he just had to hug her. Jenni and Brad have had this touchy-feely issue going the whole time and it's evident again.
Mom steps in and asks Jenni if she has told Brad she loves him, to which Jenni says "no." Mom asks why not and Brad starts stuttering. It's tough; I'm sure to hear your Mom quizzing your prospective bride. I'd never do that. I hope my son is not reading this. Jenni tells Mom that you should not have to think you have to say, "I love you." Wes asks Jenni if it's tough and she admits it is, not knowing where she stands.
Mom wants to steal Jenni for a while and Jenni interviews that she stumbled through the questions. Mom says the old saying about not marrying family is not true - that one does marry the family also and does she have problem with it? Jenni says no. Well, come on, what else would/could she say? Mom also asks if she is in love with him and Jenni really stumbles on this one saying she is falling in love with him. Mom asks what Jenni will do if he proposes to which she enthusiastically replies, "I'd say yes, let's go!" She tells us that she already has her engraved stationary in the name of Jennifer Dawn Womack. OK not really, but she did say what her name would be if she married him
Wes and Chad ask.....
