The Bachelor 11: Well Brad....Are You A Jerk? After The Final Rose Recap by Eileen Witker November 21, 2007
In the finale of The Bachelor, Brad Womack, the purported self-made Texas millionaire, when faced with the decision of selecting DeAnna or Jenni, chose to not select either woman. Tonight the final two women had the opportunity to confront Brad regarding his decision. Brad. Let's see how he handled it and them.
We begin with each of the women declaring their love for Brad and Jenni's tears. He repeats that he wants something more from her and then we see him tell DeAnna that he can't look at her and tell her he loves her and has to tell her goodbye. DeAnna, in the limo, says that she is hurt and mad at the same time. She also says something that is bleeped, but you can fill in the bleep. In fact, pick the nastiest word you can think of.
Chris reminds us that two women left in tears and Brad remains a bachelor. I think more than two women left in tears; maybe Chris forgot that. Chris tells us we will find out what happened tonight. Chris welcomes the audience and says there is a lot to talk about. He goes over what happened last night and says that both women were in tears and that last night was the most shocking ending ever. He says there's been no contact between the three and they are all there tonight. If I were Jenni or DeAnna, they'd have had to have this show without me.
For a surprise, Trista, Ryan and their new baby Max are making their TV debut. The glowing parents come out and Trista reports that all is great, he is a beautiful baby. Chris says they tried for so long; how was it when they found out they were going to be parents. Trista says Ryan was climbing a mountain when she took a pregnancy test and found out she was pregnant. Chris interrupts to ask what they thought of the season ending. Trista feels bad for everyone and especially feels bad that Brad had 25 girls to pick from and couldn't make a connection. Chris changes the subject again and asks Ryan about being a Dad now. Ryan reports that being a Dad is one of those in-explainable things in life. In-explainable is his word, not mine.
Chris then welcomes Byron and Mary, another Bachelor success story. I guess their still being together is a success in Chris' eyes. They have been traveling, moving around a lot. Mary says she loves him so much she has fallen in love with his sport - fishing. Chris says "still no wedding?" even though the ring is on her finger. He offers to have the ceremony right there. Mary says they will marry in November - on their time, not everyone else's. I like her.
Chris brings out Jenni, and thanks her for being there. He reminds her she hasn't seen Brad. Was she surprised? She says she was crushed and devastated and couldn't think of anything to say.
We see her receiving the first impression rose and her saying he is a "Southern gentleman" and how perfect he is. We again see her reading her journal to him and telling him she loves him. She keeps repeating that she "wants this so bad." We hear Brad saying what he did last night - that she brings out the best in him; that he loves her beautiful smile, but he wants something more. He didn't think he could ever tell her goodbye but here he is telling her goodbye. We see her devastation again and how rejected she felt.
Back to now, she says it is hard to watch. She says she was being real and she is proud of herself. Chris said she took a huge leap of faith and then he rejected her. She is glad she did because if she hadn't she would have regretted it. Chris asks if she was misled and she said little comments got her hopes up. She assumed he was with DeAnna and she thought DeAnna felt happy inside and watching her get hopes crushed hurt her too. She didn't understand why he didn't just say he didn't want to propose but could they just date in real life. I don't understand that either.
She thinks he wanted to be totally in love. She thinks you find someone you like and build on it. Jenni is sounding more mature than she has the whole season. Chris asks her if she lost respect for Brad and she never really says yes or no. She said there was so much more to every girl there that he didn't get to see.
Chris tells us that it's been.....
