The Bachelorette: This Time The Quitter Won
Recap and Commentary by RTVC Staff Writer Gayl Killough
July 21, 2009
The finale of The Bachelorette finally happened last night, well final until the After the Rose Ceremony tonight. Did Jillian slay enough dragons to find her prince Charming and live happily ever after?

Location wise, everyone is still in Hawaii on the big island. Ed is not the only one to have his parents flown to Hawaii since Jillian's parents were flown to Hawaii so the final two bachelors could meet her parents Glen and Peggy, her cousin Tori, and her grandmother. Peggy has reduced her list of questions for the bachelors. For Jason she had 76 questions, but she has only 66 questions for these bachelors. I wonder what 10 questions got cut? Is it wrong that I would really love to see Peggy's list of questions. As someone who loves to makes lists, I think I want to just hang out with Peggy and forget the rest of the episode. I am already bonding with a fellow list maker in Peggy and I have yet to bond with the final bachelors. I don't how the bachelors are going to do, but I like her parents already. I hate to admit though that I don't really remember much about them from when Jillian was on The Bachelor with Jason.

I hate to admit this, but I don't really care about either Ed or Kiptyn at this point. I don't feel an invested interest in who wins this finale, although I think I might prefer Kiptyn over Ed. I almost want Reid to pull an upset. Ed and Kiptyn are probably both really great guys, I don't know what it is though, maybe it is boring editing, because I suspect I would find them interesting to talk to them in real life. The finale is also the time of the season when it becomes obvious that certain traits about the bachelors have been edited out in earlier episodes, and extra words seem to included in sentences that change the meaning of my interpretation of what I thought everyone said before.

Ed is up first to meet her parents. In the voice over, Jillian and Ed are still nervous about their disappointing fantasy suite time. Ed reassures Jillian that he is in love with her. Jillian has no concerns that Ed will ace her mothers questions for him.

Her parents seem to be quite intuitive and wonder if going through the process of meeting Jason helps them out now. Peggy says the understatement of the episode that this decision could affect Jillian's whole life. The parents tell Ed that he had to have some magic with Jillian to make it this far. Ed explains upfront about leaving the competition because he was married to his career, but that he really missed Jillian, and that he came back for Jillian. Ed flat out tells her parents that he loves Jillian.

Peggy has some really good questions for Ed on her list. Ed says he want 3 kids at least, he can see himself and Jillian retired in Hawaii in 30 to 40 years, honesty and glue are the between two people, and that one has to want a relationship to work for it to last. Ed does a great job on answering the question and wonder if Jillian gave him any kinds of heads up on the questions. OK, Ed is starting to interest me now and I can see why Jillian is attracted to him.

Jillian has some alone time.....
