Big Brother: Playing The Game For Themselves

I’m noticing with this season of Big Brother that every person seems to remind every one else that they are playing the game for themselves, not for their alliance. I am not sure if this is something people need to be reminded of, but when a person is on the chopping block or pleading their case to the current HoH (which means they are helping out their alliance), they will say this same speech over and over. I’m wondering if it worked in the case of Sunday night’s episode. Renny is the new HoH. It would seem obvious, since she has stated she doesn’t like April, that she’d nominate April and her showmance partner, Ollie, for eviction, guaranteeing one of them would be leaving this week. But again Ollie had to remind Renny to play for herself, not for her alliance. In the end I guess it worked because for some reason Renny likes Ollie and doesn’t want to make any more enemies than necessary, so she nominated April and Jerry for eviction. The excuse for Jerry is that it was payback for Jerry putting her up the first week. It seemed like a lousy excuse to me.
Speaking of April and Ollie, how uncomfortable was it when they were on the couch, hanging out, when Jerry walked into the room, looked at them, and sat on the couch opposite from them. No words were spoken between the three. Finally Ollie mentioned he was tired and was going to lie down. April went with him. A few minutes after they were lying in bed, talking game, here comes Jerry. I guess he suddenly felt tired as well. It was so awkward because he never said anything to them in the bedroom either. It reminded me of when I was living at home and would have friends over and my younger sister was suddenly always around, wanting to hang out. There was no getting rid of her at that point, and apparently that is how April and Ollie feel with Jerry!
Through all the talking April told Ollie how she thought of him as a best friend, she always wanted to marry a best friend, she couldn’t wait to take care of him, and she wanted to be with him when they got out of the BB house. Ollie agreed and even asked her to marry him in a joking way, I guess, while they were in bed. I did have to laugh when April rolled over to look at the camera to ask if they got that on TV.
Another awkward moment.....
