Big Brother: The Jury Is Out
Spoiler Free Commentary by Mike Shields
September 16, 2008
Well, the clip show provided us with the usual few clips of 'never before seen' things from the house, that didn't affect the gameplay, as well as the necessary recap of how The Renegades got to the final two. This will affect how the jury members vote, to be sure. The question one must ask themselves if they're going to be impartial is, “Is it better gameplay to fly under the radar the entire time, or be out there actively making moves and deals to get you to the finals?”

Memphis chose the former path, as he only really won the one veto competition at the end, which guaranteed him the final two with Dan, who chose the latter path, and put himself out there, and played a strong game. If I were on the jury, I would have to reluctantly vote for him, even if he was the one responsible for directly putting me there. Unfortunately, I'm not there, and this is what may cost him the grand prize.

To review, the jury members are Libra, April, Michelle, Ollie, Renny, Keesha, and Jerry. How they got to the house is going to influence their vote, as well as the alliances they have brought with them to the jury house. Libra was the first to get there, and she believes that a change of her alliance would get her further in the game, however, the reality of the situation is that she was too volatile to stay in the house too much longer, which is why she left on Michelle's “Revenge Week.” She may very well prove to be the swing vote, although Jerry claimed that honor in his exit interview. Memphis was supposed to go, however, the rest of the house decided she was more annoying. I'm leaning toward a vote for Dan.

April was evicted to throw Ollie off his game, and it worked splendidly. The two of them will vote as a block, and will hold Dan responsible for putting them there, so, two votes for Memphis. Michelle's situation is slightly different, although she was indirectly evicted because of Dan's actions, he attempted to redeem himself by taking her on the island getaway he won. This may or may not work, as I'm about to pontificate.

Renny went home as a result of the Renegade alliance plus Jerry voting her out. However, she had a strong alliance from the beginning with Keesha, and as Memphis evicted her, it follows that they'll vote as a block, so, two more votes for Dan.

As I stated above, Jerry will most likely vote for Memphis to win, mistakenly believing that if Memphis had won the final HoH, he'd be the one in the final two, and not Dan. So, this brings us to 3 votes apiece for Dan and Memphis. Will Dan's bribery of Michelle work? Will Keesha campaign for Dan to win, and if so, will the other jury members listen to her? I'm thinking one or both of these situations will come to pass, no matter what Dan and Memphis say in their final speeches, therefore it follows that Dan wins, 4-3.

Tune in tonight to find out if I'm right.
