Big Brother: Deadeye Dick and Darling Daughter Do it All! Commentary by Alisa September 20, 2007
Yes I know, many of you wanted Dick and Daniele out on their butts from Day One. However, I didn't. I was rooting for them all along.
He was crass and he had no class, but Dick got things done. Frankly, he was the best player Big Brother ever had. He didn't waiver from his strategy which was to break people down. Besides that, he and Daniele did very well on the challenges. They were a fantastic team.
The former HGs that decided that Daniele was riding on Dick's coattails were very wrong. Daniele was a formidable competitor even though she was a whiny, complaining and at times, nasty girl.
What's the gripe, people? The Donatos won it fair and square.
Dick's strategy was more powerful than anyone had imagined. It wasn't only to win five hundred thousand dollars which will shrink as soon as the IRS gets wind of it (not that they haven't already), but he wanted to win back the one person that he loved in that House: his daughter. Whether or not he will succeed in the long run remains to be seen, but during the eighty-one days in the House, he probably worked harder at forging a relationship with her than he did on his strategical moves which no one could scoff at.
Daniele "played" him so many times. There were hugs, then there were tears. She pushed him away from her on so many occasions that I thought he just might give up at any moment.
It certainly speaks for his tenaciousness that he stuck to his guns, didn't give up and was there for her all the time.
Why the Others Didn't Have a Chance
Well, for one thing, America liked Dick a hell of a lot more than that crying bitch Amber, the praying woman with no skills, Jameka, and all of the rest.
Frankly, the Donatos' victory was deserved. The only other person that I would have liked to have seen winning the prize would have been Zach. He had some sterling qualities which no one seemed to appreciate or even notice. I just couldn't understand it. Zach is a stand-up guy.
At the end, even Dick gave him credit for making a huge ballsy effort to pull it off and oust either one of the Donatos. He almost had it all but the Donatos outplayed, outwitted and outlasted him. I would also say that quite a bit of luck factored into their victory.
The others, for the most part had no strategy whatsoever. Eric was just given directions so he knew what he had to do, while people like Jessica, Amber, Jameka, Jessica, Kail and Jen were clueless. Justin had a few ideas about getting rid of Dick and Daniele but that didn't work out because Eric did a pretty good job of talking people into voting Dustin out when Dick was on the block. Zach didn't develop a brain until the last part of the game when there were only three of the players left and it was all over by then.
Everyone else left too early or didn't really know what they were doing. Okay, enough of this.
The Sloppy Summer of 2007
I wouldn't hesitate to say that for me this was the most fun I've had watching Big Brother in…well, never. I couldn't get over the things that Dick said to people when he felt he needed to and then at the drop of a hat he was able to break out the charming, smiling Dick. He can actually be a polite pleasant guy if he really tries. There's a lot of trying involved, though.
My History With Big Brother Since Season One
I have watched this show every season and some years are better than others. The worst one was the first one. It was so boring that I used it for a lullaby. By Season Two somebody took over the reins and it got so much better primarily because of Dr. Will, that phony baloney and his showmance, Shannon, who was probably the worst bitch ever with the exception of Allison and Jin. Oh those happy memories…
