Big Brother: Deadeye Dick and Darling Daughter Do it All! Commentary by Alisa September 20, 2007
Then the producers tweaked it here and there and by Season Three things really jelled and people like me became addicted to Big Brother. I knew it was being produced in other countries long before the U.S. but I am used to our American ways and can't relate to sex-crazed Europeans who were having it off before the cameras even began rolling.
That's why I feel qualified in saying that BB8 has them all beaten for excitement, laughs and sadistic behavior.
America's Player Reveals Himself
During the Reunion, Julie Chenbot "outs" Eric to the live audience in the studio and everyone who didn't know about Eric's role in the game looked stunned. What a hoot! Julie neglected to inform everyone that for each task that he accomplished, he received ten thousand dollars and actually ended up with forty thousand dollars.
That dumb Kansas bimbo, Jessica, appears to see a future with Eric and therefore stated that she could never be angry with him no matter what he does. Just wait until he tells her that he is never moving to Kansas.
Truthfully, from reading Eric's body and face language, I don't think he's all that enamored with Jessica anymore. No touching, arm flitting across her shoulder or loving looks. One would think it's all over already between them. I think so.
Dustin seemed relieved that his ouster was due to Eric's manipulations and not his own wrongdoing. It's always great to stroke your ego. Should I have formulated that last sentence any differently? Hmmmm. Oh well. It's all in good fun.
I felt that it was outrageous for Ms.-Holier-Than-Thou Jameka to say that Daniele was the pimp and Dick was her "ho." This is a Christian? How dare she?
Amber even had more nerve in asking why Daniele should be awarded the top prize after the way she comported (don't worry, she doesn't even know the meaning of that word it's my interpretation) herself with Nick when she had a boyfriend at home. Daniele had a very good answer for her and I won't bother repeating it except to say that Daniele didn't even want Amber's vote if it was based on her personal life as opposed to her gamesmanship. I will however mention that Meth-Head Amber had conducted herself in a much less moral manner from what I saw and heard on the show. "Judge not, lest ye be judged."
Jen really let the insults fly and I can't say that I blamed her. I think that she got the worst treatment from both the Donatos and she's outspoken enough to let them know.
After Zach asks Dick what he will take (mentally) with him from this summer, Dick proceeded to say a few things about people that were almost flattering in some instances. The eye rolling by the jury escalated to a dangerous level at this point.
As usual, Daniele was very critical of what her father had said and his pain was visible. Why can't she just be decent about it? I know why, he didn't say anything that she wanted him to say, he just took over the reins and stated what he really felt.
The Pre-Jury Evicted Houseguests
Nick, Mike, Kail, Joe and Carol were led in and looked like fish out of water. They really didn't have that much to say but I still thought that Nick was a very cool/hot guy and the hug that he gave Daniele should have steam coming out of her boyfriend's ears. Funny thing, her live-in boyfriend wasn't there, only Nick was. Things may have changed somewhat.
The Jury's Grilling
It was more than obvious that the Jury hated the idea of having only Dick and Daniele to choose from. The lesser of two "Evels?" There were some hard-hitting questions Survivor-style but Dick and Daniele were up on some cloud somewhere and just kept repeating how great it was to end up together. Or as Daniele said a million times, it was "amazing."
Of course the final vote was left for last and even though I wasn't sure what to expect, Dick won the big prize of five hundred thousand dollars by a vote of 5-2. He was going to take a trip around the world. It can only do him good. I thought that was a great idea.
Dick will learn all about other cultures and possibly learn how to behave himself a bit better. Don't get me wrong, I have always liked him. He has added so much to this show. He is also smart and I always respect intelligence. When his mom was asked what she thought about the outcome of Dick and Daniele's reunion she simply called it a "miracle" and hopes that it lasts for the rest of their lives. Dick's cute son was there as well and Dick kept hugging him. There is no doubt in my mind about Dick's love for his kids. His mom raised them while Dick was out working. I'm sure he didn't desert them. She seemed like an extremely nice lady and the kids turned out fine. We should all remember that Daniele just turned twenty-one and has a lot of growing up to do. I thought that she conducted herself very well throughout the show in almost every way.
What a Way to Spend a Summer
There is so much to do in the daytime during the summer, but in the evenings what could be better than kicking back with another episode of Big Brother? I really think it's wonderful entertainment. I am not a snob despite the fact that I love going to museums, art galleries and listen to classical music. I also love reality shows. If it makes one happy, then do it.
I see that Arnold Shapiro has left the show and Allison Grodner is in charge. For her first season alone she has done a marvelous job.
CaliGirl loves the Ocean, granola and winemaking. When not busy with that, writing is her biggest thrill, well almost. She can be reached at california_girl100@yahoo.com
