Big Brother: America's Liar Gets a Little Play Commentary by Cindy Rutolo Dietrich August 30, 2007
Right off the bat I see something's wrong. It's 12: 01, my time. Big
Brother: After Dark has just begun. Eric, America's Player, is laying in
bed with HoH, Jessica. Of course they're not doing anything in it
except watching the spy TV.
They were watching ED & Daniele. They weren't speaking. Jessica thought
they both looked miserable. Eric asks why. He hadn't noticed anything.
"They're fighting. Isn't that so obvious?" Jess asks.
"Good!" Eric says.
"Why do you say good?" Jessica asks, perplexed.
"Cause, why do I care?" He laughs.
"Because, why do you want them to fight?" Jess asks, confused.
See, this is an example of just one of the many differences between
them. Jessica seems like a pretty nice girl. I think she comes from a
good family. Lived in a nice sheltered world.
Jester or Romeo?
I'm not sure who Eric is outside of the BB world. But inside he has been
very cruel at times.
He's just never been cruel to Jess.
Here's a perfect example of something he's said. This happened the other
night.
"Would anyone mind if I just walked up and hit her at the wrap party?"
Eric was referring to Jen, yet again. He was all shifty eyed. He had a
weaselly, guilty smile. His eyes were bouncing all around the room.
To complete this evil picture of him all your need do is, imagine him
rubbing his hands gleefully together.
Eric's cruel remarks and outright threats of violence, especially
towards Jen, were really escalating there for a while. He seemed to
always be searching for one more cruel poke. He thinks it's a joke. He
gets so excited when the rest of them go; yeah, sure, go ahead hit her!
Sometimes I think he'll never shut up.
Most of the time his mouth never stops.
When he does, you can almost hear the squeal of the wheels in his head,
spinning around and around.
America's Liar talks and talks for hours.
When he talks he manipulates. He changes. He revises. He retells. He
replays. He endlessly over-analyzes.
Sometimes I just fast forward. I watch his mouth. I wait for it to stop
moving for a moment. Sometimes this takes awhile.
Then, yesterday things started to get really interesting. Eric made a
confession. The confession only came though, after he'd tried everything
else. It came only after he'd spent an entire night tying to ease
Jessica's doubts.
Plus, he only told her about some of his deeds. He did admit to the
mustard thing. Jessica was shocked. She says she asked him "twenty times
about this!" Besides, she lost a bet over it. He went on to credit
himself with most off the other houseguest's evictions.
It's what he didn't tell her though that I found interesting. For
instance, he didn't tell her that he's 'America's Liar," I mean,
"Player."
He neglected to say that he's being paid.
He forgets to mention that he'll also be getting thousands of dollars
for helping with Amber's Eviction.
