Big Brother: God Is Lying To Amber
Commentary by Emma Brand
August 22, 2007
Let's take a moment and rewind back to the beginning of the summer, when we were first introduced to the cast that has made up BB8. If you are like me, there were some that you liked, some you didn't, and others that were just "meh."

I think back to people like Carol or Nick or Mike or Kail, and that was my "meh" group. Not much to them, not much to like or dislike, but I wouldn't have minded seeing them around for a while. Dick, while I had a honeymoon week where I praised his strategy has pretty much been in the dislike group because I think he is rude and obnoxious and as I have gotten to know him, I would now say my opinion of him is that he is breathing oxygen the rest of us could be using.

Amber, Zach, Jessica, Eric and Daniele were in the dislike category as well. Jameka was difficult to form an opinion about for a while because I know I saw her enter the house, but I didn't see her again for like a month.

And now as we have this "super alliance" of Dick, Daniele, Eric and Jessica, I am a little perturbed to say the least. I don't like it when week after week, the people that I can find a way to root for get voted off. The supposed final four alliance makes my skin crawl, and I cannot believe that as the summer comes to an end, I am going to have those two weeks of episodes where I hope for the sequester portion of the show. BB8 started out promising, and it's still entertaining, don't get me wrong, but I feel like I'll look back at this season as one of my least favorites because of the utterly ridiculous "America's Player" twist, and because no one in the house is very likeable at this point.

But enough about that, for all of my complaints, it's still a show that's appointment television for me, and no matter my personal feelings about the remaining houseguests, I will continue to plow on through. If Julie can tease that hair and do a voice-over three times a week, then I can manage to make it to the couch. Onward and upward, people!

Of course, we learn from the blue and white screen that Amber and Jameka were nominated during the elimination ceremony. Amber was in the diary room and compared herself to a superhero. I feel dumber after listening to her - every single time she opens her mouth! I mean it almost makes you wish she was still crying when she speaks. Do you think English is her first language? How else can you explain her utter lack of understanding of basic linguistic skill? The education system has failed you, Amber, and I am sorry.

But I don't think Amber is concerned about the educational system so much as the fact that apparently God is now sending her false visions. She had a vision that she would win the PoV this week, remove herself from the block, and she and Jameka will lead a crusade to the final two. She says that she will not cry anymore, and while she says this, she is crying. Then she cries during the Veto competition, and in the diary room talking about the veto competition, my goodness! That's a lot of crying for someone who "ain't gonna cry no more, no more."

So Daniele won the POV and backdoored Jen, as was her plan from the beginning. So Amber's vision was untrue. I am not saying that God couldn't send Amber a vision. He has appeared as a burning bush, God helped Moses to part the Red Sea and free the Israelites, but I don't think God's encore is showing up in visions at the Big Brother house or speaking to Amber through the giraffe-shaped hedges there. Of course, I am not one to question His wisdom. Nope, I question Amber's.

Seriously, does anyone else recognize the ludicrous nature of Amber's meltdowns. A couple of quotes from Amber: "The worst feeling in the world is losing the veto when you're on the block." Really? That's the worst feeling? How about when you stub your toe? That hurts pretty bad. How about running out of gas on a day when you're already late to an important meeting? What about losing your job? What about losing a loved one? I think those hurt worse than losing the damn PoV on a reality show. Buck up, Amber!

The second quote is even better.....
