Big Brother: Jen Doesn't Fall For Trick Question - Wins HoH
Episode 4 Recap by Logan Huffman
July 13, 2007
Previously on 'Big Brother 8', fourteen new houseguests moved into the 'Big Brother' house. Six of them learned that they would be spending their summer with a rival: bitter ex-boyfriends Dustin and Joe, estranged father and daughter Dick and Daniele, and former high school best friends Carol and Jessica. Kail claimed the first Head of Household title, deciding to nominate Carol and Amber in order to cause the least amount of backlash to her and her alliance of Mike, Nick, and Zach. After Daniele won the veto, she decided not to save either of the women. Who will be the first to be evicted from the 'Big Brother' house? And who will succeed Kail as the next HOH?

Julie Chen welcomes us, and she is still looking quite anorexic. Julie recaps the week's events for us, mainly focusing on the rivals' relationships. Either Amber or Carol will be evicted tonight, with their dreams of winning up in flames. Julie tells us that while Kail's nominations were intended to create the least amount of waves in the house, nominations are never as easy as they seem, and the past few days have been a whirlwind as the houseguests try to figure out who to keep in the house.

As we go into the house, we see Daniele keeping the nominations the same, as Carol says that she thinks she does have a few supporters in the house, and she thinks that her best option at this point is to try not to seem rattled, and let her friends know that she does want to stay, and that she does need their help. Amber tells Daniele that she made a good speech at the veto ceremony, as she tells us that she isn't there for herself, she is there for her family, and she will fight to stay because she loves them so much. Dick says that he loves and knows that he can trust Amber, and he feels that he can trust her more than anyone in the house other than Daniele.

Amber and Dustin are talking in the bathroom, as Dustin tells Amber that he came into the game knowing that he was going to be the shut down person that didn't talk to anyone because he has trust issues, but Amber was the one person that he trusted right away, and he didn't expect that to happen. Why could Dustin have trust issues? I don't suppose a certain annoying houseguest could have caused those. Amber tells them that it is nice to have someone to turn to, and adds that she has to stay in the house this week. Dustin says that he doesn't think it will be a problem, and Amber tells us that she thinks that she has more house votes than Carol, and feels confident that she will stay.

Outside, Jen and Carol are talking in the hammock, as Carol tells Jen that she doesn't want to go home yet, and she is going to try to win votes, but she's not sure how. Jen asks her who she thinks will vote to keep her. Carol thinks that she has Joe and Daniele's votes, and possibly Jen's as well. Jen tells Carol that she is the smartest person to keep, as she hasn't really began playing the game yet, while Amber has already forged alliances. Carol admits that she hasn't been aggressive at all, and has just been trying to be herself. I don't think that's working out too well for her. Jen says that is why it is smarter to keep Carol. Carol thinks that Dustin, Dick, and Jessica will not vote to keep her, and adds that she has to just get out there and convince people to keep her, saying that she has given up way too much back at home to leave this early, and it isn't the right time for her to go at all.

Inside, Carol and Jessica are talking in the bedroom, and Carol tells her that the two of them could team up and take control of the game. Jessica says that she has been thinking about that, and Carol says that they could throw out their past, adding that they just got into a fight, and they can just apologize and move on. Carol laughs, telling Jessica that she is sorry now that she was such a bitch in middle school. Of course she's sorry now when her ass is on the line! Jessica tells us that the thought did cross her mind in the beginning that she and Carol could team up and run the house, but she remembered that she doesn't trust Carol at all, and once she got put up for eviction, Jessica says that her problem was solved. Jessica tells Carol, "OK", and adds for her to keep working her strategy.

Outside, Carol and Eric are talking in the hammock, and Carol tells him that she really does think that she is a strong competitor and hasn't had a chance to show what she is capable of doing, and she says that she isn't trying to be mean, but none of the other females strike her as being intelligent whatsoever. Well, that doesn't exactly sound nice, but in her original quote on the live feeds, she did exclude Kail, Jameka, and Amber from that comment.

As Joe sits outside and smokes, Dustin and Amber sit in the hammock and talk, with Amber telling him that she really thinks that she and he are true to each other. Dustin agrees, as Joe tells us that Amber and Dustin are clearly close and are pretty much inseparable, and Joe doesn't understand why they don't go ahead and nip that in the bud now, as two people aligned together can be extremely strong down the line.

In the bathroom, Carol tells Joe.....
