Big Brother 9;
Episode 17

Recap
By: Logan Huffman
March 19, 2008

Previously on ‘Big Brother’, after James returned to the house, he and Natalie battled for five hours in an HOH endurance competition. Natalie struck a deal with James that she would give him HOH if he kept her and Matt safe. James agreed, and became the new HOH. At the nomination ceremony, James kept his word to Natalie, nominating Ryan and Sheila for eviction. Later, James continued his power trip for the week, winning the Power of Veto. Wanting to know whether Adam or Matt voted against him returning to the house, James asked Adam, and when Adam defensively told James that he voted him back in, James became suspicious and planned to back door him. But right before the Veto Ceremony, Sharon told James that Matt was actually the one who voted against him coming back. At the Veto Ceremony, James went back on his word to Natalie, and nominated Matt after pulling Sheila off of the block. Who will be evicted tonight?

Julie welcomes us to the show, and she looks really thin tonight. We see the flashback of James using the Veto on Sheila and nominating Matt in her place, as Natalie tells us that she is so angry, and while she doesn’t get angry very often, James is a hypocrite. Why does Natalie’s angry voice sound exactly like her happy voice? Natalie adds that James is a liar, and his word doesn’t mean diddly squat.

Natalie comforts Matt, who sits stunned on the couch. Matt says, “I’m fucked!”, as Natalie hugs him. James tells us that Matt is nominated because he lied to his face when he asked him if he was the third vote against him coming back in the house, with James adding that Matt is now going to go home because of that. As Natalie continues to hug Matt, Matt tells her that he wants to be alone now. As he gets up, he congratulates Sheila, and as he hugs Chelsia, he tells everyone that he is going to pack. Natalie walks away as well, muttering under her breath that people’s words don’t mean shit. Matt tells us that people fear him in the house, and this is their chance to get him out back door style, which sucks.

After Matt goes to the bedroom to sit down, Chelsia and Josh ask him where Natalie is. Matt tells them that she went to the bedroom crying. Josh and Chelsia go and find her, as Chelsia tells her to stay strong. Natalie tells us that it is really hard, as she likes Matt a lot and has feelings for him, so she is very sad that he may go this week, adding that she feels like she hung up on the disco ball for nothing. Trying to comfort her, Josh says that Matt could stay, and you never know how the votes will go. Natalie says that she just doesn’t know.

Later, Matt goes out to the backyard, telling James that he didn’t think he was going to do that, asking if there is a reason he wants him to leave. James says that it is because Matt is playing with Natalie. Matt contests that Natalie is playing with him instead of the other way around, and there is a difference. Matt adds that he can’t help the way someone feels about him, and he knows that James knows the feelings are mutual. James says that he knows, but Natalie does feel that way. Matt says that it is his third time up, and asks James if he felt like crying when he was back doored. James says yes. Matt feels like he will be letting everyone down if he leaves the house with nothing. James tells him not to look at it like that, and asks him why he is looking at it that way. Matt says that he made a promise to his mom that he would win something to give her. Matt begins to sniffle and get teary-eyed, as he apologizes for crying. James comforts him and tells him that it is alright.

Matt continues, saying that he hates himself, but he can’t go against Ryan. James asks him why, and looking over at him, Matt says that Ryan is Mr. Nice Guy, and is perfect, as Matt proclaims that he is the asshole of the house. Matt apologizes to James for last week, and James offers him a hug, but Matt refuses. James tells us, “Boo hoo, Matt!”, adding that Matt came out to him crying, saying that he was going to give his mom a prize, as James adds that everyone in there has a parent they want to help out.

As Matt goes back into the house, Natalie is still inside the bedroom crying. Matt enters the room, crying as well. Natalie walks over to him, but Matt insists he is fine. Natalie hugs him anyway, and Matt tells her not to cry. Natalie apologizes to Matt, but he tells her not to be sorry, as she did nothing wrong. Natalie just wishes it hadn’t happened, and Matt tells her to go after them when he is gone. Natalie cries and says that she doesn’t want him to go, and Matt asks her to be alone again. Natalie apologizes again as Matt leaves the room, saying that he wants to be by himself.
