Biggest Loser 4: When You Jog With A Log
Episode 2 Recap by Donna Emery
September 20, 2007
This week on the Biggest Loser 4, the Black Team trained under Jillian's Spartan watch and returned to the "Campus" to face the 12 people who had left them in the dust. And, although "Second Week Syndrome" resulted in less pounds lost this week for most, these 17 people are still racking up some impressive numbers.

The episode began with the Black Team, training in the desert under oppressive heat and the driving force that is Jillian. To get them into practice, she had them do a weigh-in. Here are their first week's results:
  • Isabeau was 298 lbs and now weighs 290 lbs. She lost 8 lbs
  • Julie was 218 lbs and now weighs 216 lbs. She lost 2 lbs
  • Hollie was 255 lbs and now weighs 244 lbs. She lost 11 lbs
  • Jez was 345 lbs and now weighs 329 lbs. He lost 16 lbs
  • Jim was 361 lbs and now weighs 313 lbs. He lost 21 lbs
Back on Campus the Red Team was reflecting on last week's elimination. When Jillian asked how they were feeling, Lezlye said that it had gone pretty well, but she didn't want to have to go through that again. Dave knew that the results meant that they need a "tighter team," and to work harder. Phil noted that he'd "never seen skinny." But his goal now is to join the Fire Department. Amy knew she needed to be there for her kids, but she missed them.

Kim told them that their next activity would be a workout.

Bob had his team walking up the Santa Monica Mountain. He was hoping that his team would repeat their victory at the scales this week, because no team in Biggest Loser history has won the first two weigh-ins, in a row. Kae joined him in his quest by commenting that when she'd been in the military, she'd had to be focused on doing her best. She said that during last week's activities she'd felt her "inner soldier" come back and that now she feels that she will be focused on tomorrow rather than the past.

Neil was doing his best to keep up but his knees were feeling the strain. Bob offered him a chance to quit with honor but he insisted on continuing the uphill hike. "I won't quit!" he shouted. His team cheered him on.

The entire blue team made it to the top of the hill and they celebrated together. The view was great and Bob gave them some further motivation toward winning the weigh-in. Patty was impressed with her own ability to make the climb. She reminded herself that now she can live longer, for her kids' sake.

At Jillian's desert training ground the team members were jogging with logs on their shoulders. Julie vowed that the Black Team would come back and prove themselves worthy. Jillian noted that the team had been training for four hours each day, in very high temperatures. She predicted that her team would crush both the Red and Blue Teams.

Did you know that, on a recent survey about nutrition, 51% of Americans said that they have a fast food meal at least once a week? This was one of the many interesting nutrition facts that the show offered this week.

Kim was beginning to get frustrated with her team. She looked at Bryan's lunch choices and saw that he intended to eat only string cheese and Jell-O. "This is my nightmare!" she exclaimed. She reminded "B" that he needs fuel for his body in order to work out. She suggested turkey tacos and had the team get the "Jenny-O" ground turkey out of the refrigerator. She showed the gang how to easily make tasty tacos, and they were all pleasantly surprised to find that the tacos tasted great. And, at 26 gm of protein per serving, they are a low-fat, low calorie healthy choice!

Despite the team's taco lunch, Amy was not cooperating during the workout. She gripped the treadmill tightly because she was afraid of falling off. Kim taunted her by telling her to "go ahead and quit. Do an Amber!" - referring to last week's sent-home team member. Amy complained that she was hurting but Kim showed no mercy and told her to go ahead and let herself hurt.

Speaking of "no mercy" Jillian continued with her boot camp regimen and reminded the team that there is no room for weakness. Julie reveled in the discipline: "I've always been 'Julie, the sweet one' but now I am coming back as a rebel."

Hollie was beginning to show.....
