Biggest Loser Families: Never Bet Your Life On Week Two
Episode 2 Recap by Donna Emery
September 25, 2008
This week on the Biggest Loser, the teams got down and dirty in their quests for weight loss, and that wasn’t confined to the water slide challenge.

The episode began with a review of each team’s story, and highlights of the last week. We got to relive the moment when we said good-bye to Adam and Stacey. We were reminded that all of the remaining teams feel both thrilled and challenged to be there. When the opening credits rolled, I was glad to hear the old theme song, and sing along: ”What have you done today: to make you feel proud?” All of the teams had much to be proud of, with great results last week.

Back at the Ranch, the Orange Team of Heba and Ed thanked the Grey Team’s L.T. and Tom for giving them their votes. They were grateful to them for giving both their votes to send the Green Team home, and added: “we really want to have kids someday, and without staying here we don’t know if we can get healthy enough.”

L.T. accepted their thanks and thought about how far their gratitude might extend. “I saved them last week. If I were to fall below the Yellow Line, would they save me?” The Orange Couple assured them that they would.

The Brown Team’s Brady mused that it had been a hard decision, since Adam and Stacey were well liked by all. Sure, Brady … that’s why you and your wife sent them home.

When Bob’s remaining couples met to discuss the aftermath, he was sad that the Green Team was gone, yet: “it’s a casualty of war. If it hadn’t been them it would have been Orange. Either way, we move on. We have to plan what to do, in order to prevent it from happening again.”

All of the contestants realized that they were now entering the notorious Week Two of the weight loss process, when contestants traditionally lost much less than they had on the first week. Vicky summed it up by saying, “the body goes into shock, and your weight loss numbers drop. I just hope that Jillian’s teams numbers drop more than ours.”

But Jillian knew about the expected drop in weight loss, and she was warning her own team about it. She hustled them all into the gym, in order to help them prepare for it. During the workout, the Pink Team’s Michelle got into some tense interaction with her mom, Renee and began to cry. She said that the unfamiliar proximity to her mom was bringing up some bad memories about how she’d felt, after the divorce.

Jillian sent the rest of the team out to take a lap and cornered Michelle for a talk. She led her to share her feelings about her mom leaving her to take charge of her dad and the younger kids, when she moved out. Jillian told her that it was time for her to take care of herself instead of others. Michelle concluded: “I’m worth fixing, and I will give 100% to do that.” When Bob brought his team into the gym, the wide line of yellow tape that divided the gym into half bugged him. It reminded him of the dreaded Yellow Line; which doomed one of his couples to be voted off, last week. He angrily tore up the tape, and said he was going to go into Jillian’s half of the gym. Jillian laughed when she saw him do that. She told him to go ahead and use her side. “Come on to the Dark Side,” she joked.

Yellow Team’s Colleen was thinking about her own destiny during this difficult week. “Week 2 is bad,” she said. “I had immunity last week, but I won’t have it again, so I have to be sure that the Week 2 curse doesn’t get me.”

Her dad, Jerry, knew he was.....
