Biggest Loser Families: Where the Heart Is
Episode 7 Recap by Donna Emery
October 30, 2008

This week on the Biggest Loser, Vicky proved that though her loyalties are firmly with the Blue Team, her heart seems as black as the T-shirts worn by the other team.
It takes a lot to get Bob Harper mad. He is usually true Blue to his team (pun intended), but this week he called out Vicky and Brady, and concluded by calling Vicky “Shakespearean.”
In my opinion, that’s an insult to Shakespeare.
The episode began with a very sad Phillip, reacting to the news that his Amy had been the casualty of last week’s elimination. He stated that he figured the choice had been based on their dislike of him. He was dejected: “Amy was a victim of something she couldn’t control. I feel isolated. I don’t know where I stand, now. Who can I trust? She was my sounding board. When I was down, I’d turn to her.”
Trainer Bob wasn’t much happier about it. When he entered the room, he wondered where Amy was. At first, he didn’t see Vicky, and Vicky teased him about wondering whether she had been the one to go home. I don’t think he was wondering, Vicky; I think he was hoping. When he realized it was Red Amy that was gone, his heart was broken. He asked the team how the vote had gone. They told him about the 2 votes for Brady and he wondered who’d done that. He wasn’t surprised when he learned it had been the Amys. Vicky told Bob she really missed Amy. She pretended that they hadn’t expected to go to elimination. She agreed that a 3 pound loss is low, for a man.
Bob knew the score, or thought he did. He asked to speak to Vicky and Brady. He tried the sincere approach and asked if they trusted him. They said yes. He said he didn’t believe the results of the last weigh in. He’d had time to think, and “it doesn’t add up.” He asked if they’d been gameplaying. Vicky immediately replied that she wouldn’t have lost a weigh in on purpose. “I swear,” she vowed. “I wouldn’t have thrown it on purpose.”
Riiiiiight. And I’ll bet Vicky has a bridge in Brooklyn to sell, too.
Bob called her “the biggest manipulator on the show.” But she stuck to her story, and Brady maintained his poker face. Vicky finally proposed a reason: Brady hadn’t been eating every 4 hours. Bob was both relieved and angry at this: he had a legitimate reason for the poor weight loss but also a problem with Brady’s eating style. He reminded Brady that he needed adequate calories to balance the work in the gym. He told Brady if he keeps eating too few calories, he will continue to lose very little weight. He asked if they wanted to go home.
Of course, they said no. Vicky further revealed that they had made a deal with Heba; if the Blues ended up in elimination again and Purple Amy was the Biggest Loser this week and therefore immune, either Vicky or Brady would be the one to go home.
No prizes for guessing which of the Dastardly Duo would get their ticket home.
Bob knew Heba is the “swing vote” in the alliance. He called her “Vicky’s soldier.”
Bob was willing to give Brady the benefit of the doubt, but he still thought Vicky was up to something. He fumed: “that wife – she’s Shakespearean!”
At the temptation, the contestants were faced with covered plates of food. Hostess Allison Sweeney reminded them that losing weight is all about choices. To help test their knowledge of healthy food, they were going to be put to a test. Allison introduced a guest named David Zinchecko. He has written a book called “Eat This, Not That.” David was inspired to write the book by watching his morbidly obese dad die young. He wanted to educate people about making wise food choices.
Ali explained the test: she would show the teams two food choices and they would have to guess which food was healthier. Each correct guess would earn 1 point. The first team to get five points would win a 40 pound advantage at the challenge.
40 pounds?! That was an irresistible prize to shoot for, although they couldn’t imagine what it would mean.
In the first round.....
