Biggest Loser Families: You Can’t Keep The Pink Ladies Down
Episode 10 Recap by Donna Emery
December 2, 2008
This week on the Biggest Loser, the contestants enjoyed two seasonal treats: food and football.

The episode began with Michelle and Renee crying in their room, because their friend Coleen had been sent home.

Renee said it had been a tough night for them. “She was like an adopted daughter. This is so hard.”

Michelle agreed. “It will suck without her. Coleen isn’t just a good person. She was here for the right reasons. This is unfair. Amy made a mistake.”

Jillian took a look at her depleted team and knew Coleen was gone. She wasn’t surprised. She asked the ladies how they felt. Michelle said she’d thought there was hope at the elimination. She’d given Vicky the penalty pound and thought that Amy would grab an opportunity to send Vicky home. “We gave her a chance,” Michelle protested. “We probably won’t get another one.”

Jillian knew the score. “If Vicky gets a chance to send Amy home, she’ll do it. I guarantee Amy’s choice will backfire.”

Michelle knew the upcoming week would seem like a big hill to climb. “We’re outnumbered.”

Renee knew she and Michelle were lucky to still be on the Ranch together. She didn’t want to think of either of them going home.

Jillian assured them they’d be OK. “Keep your eye on the ball,” she urged them. “Push through this. I’ve been here before and I’ll do what I can to beat the weight off you.”

Bob had no illusions about who he’d find when he met his team. He expected to find Vicky, and he did. “Did you miss me?” she smirked. Bob was satisfied to see that Amy had done what he’d asked her to do. “I needed that redemption. I needed the reconciliation.”

Amy brushed off any further discussion about her choice. “What’s done is done. It happened. If it was a mistake, it was a mistake. Let’s move on.”

Heba was amused by Amy’s naiveté. “Amy thinks she and Vicky are OK, but Vicky’s still out to get her.”

Vicky reinforced this view. “Amy gave me another week here, but I don’t trust her. I’m keeping my eye on her.” For this week’s theme, hostess Alison Sweeney met them dressed in a San Diego Chargers uniform. She explained that when people think of Thanksgiving, they think of turkey – and football. She announced that “The NFL is coming to the Biggest Loser!”

Vicky was excited. “I love football!” she exclaimed.

Alison encouraged them to put on their “game faces and get down and dirty. Be the MVP you were meant to be!”

She led the gang to a field where she introduced them to Super Bowl MVPs Jerry Rice and Steve Young.

Ed was thrilled. “This was my boyhood dream, and it’s coming true.”

Ali told the contestants they’d be taking part in football drills. She showed them an obstacle course they’d have to negotiate through. There were ropes to hop through; cones to navigate; a bench press and footballs to catch.

Vicky was no longer thrilled. “I like watching football; not playing it.” Why are we not surprised?

Alison told them they’d be timed on the obstacle course, and the winner would receive $5,000 for the school of their choice. The football players agreed to match that donation.

Vicky turned piously sincere and said anything that helped kids get healthy is a good thing. She went on to say she planned to be “under the radar.” She giggled and told the men she was a slow runner.

She must have had a hunch, because after everyone had run the course once, Alison told them they’d all have to run it a second time. Their second time would be compared to the first time and the person who cut the most time off their performance. Vicky grinned. Her instincts had been right!

The others did their best to try to improve their original times. Michelle was angered by Vicky’s tactics. “She had an intuition and saved her energy. She’s gaming us all. We should have been rid of her.” Yet, when Vicky won the prize, Michelle and Renee were clapping for her. Renee – once again a formidable competitor – came closest to beating Vicky.

During the workout, Ed felt he was at a disadvantage because of being the only man left. ”I feel so sweaty, and it won’t get easier. When he stepped away to get some water, Bob thought he was slacking off and urged him to return to the gym. “My girls are forging ahead but Ed just isn’t doing as well as I’d expect.” Bob’s encouragement made Ed defensive and he angrily told Bob he was just getting water.

After the workout came this week’s challenge. It was decorated in football motif. Amy wasn’t thrilled. “I don’t know how to play football so I hope that isn’t the challenge.”

Allison introduced the challenge by reminding them that eventually only one person will be given the title of Biggest Loser. “In the meantime, you have to train hard. You have to take the ball and run.”

Each player had a rack with his or her name on it. The players would begin on one side of the field and footballs would be aimed at them. They’d catch the balls and run across the field. They would put the football into another contestant’s rack. When 10 balls were in a rack, that person would be eliminated. The last person standing in the game would win a pass to the Pro Bowl, which would be played in Honolulu. If any of them caught one of the thrown footballs, they would win $500. Ed figured he could rack up dollars, just catching footballs.

Vicky was sure nobody likes football as well as she does. She thought it was the “coolest prize.”

Each of them put on a football uniform, complete with padding. On the jerseys were numbers representing the number of pounds they have lost so far.

From the beginning, it was evident that Blue had singled out Michelle for elimination. The entire team started jamming their footballs into her rack. She was definitely outnumbered and went down quickly. Once she was out, they went after Renee. “Why did we play this game?” fumed Michelle. “We should have just let them do it, and saved our energy.”

Once the girls in Black were.....
