Canadian Idol: Signed, Sealed, Eliminated
Recap by Jon Dos
July 19, 2007
Tonight we finally find out who will be in Canadian Idol's coveted Top 10. This week, the men stepped it up and the ladies changed it up. Honestly, it's anyone's guess figuring out who will be in this year's Top 10.

We start off the night with the guys performing "Far Away" by Nickelback and the girls performing Avril Lavigne's "Keep Holding On." The solos are good but as a group, their voices don't mesh well together. The standouts to me are Brian, Dwight, Khalila, and Martha.

Ben comes out and tells us 2.5 million votes were cast this week. That's it? I guess I'm not that surprised since most of the Idols didn't give viewers a good enough reason to pick up their phones and vote. Ben says a quick hello to the judges and then we get a recap of last night, which can be read here.

Ben gives us some background information about Rihanna, and then shows us a video of Rihanna giving advice to the Idols. At last, we finally get to hear Rihanna perform "Umbrella." It's a bad enough song already, and who thought it could get any worse on television? At least Jake has the respect to give Rihanna a standing ovation.

Is it time for the results yet? Nope. We check in with Kalan on set of his music video for "Down in Heaven." It's a pretty good radio friendly song and it has potential to become a hit. It's been a while since we've seen Kalan but he has really matured. I really hope he's able to make it big and possibly come close to capitalizing on the same success as fellow Idol Jacob Hoggard.

With only 10 minutes left, Ben quickly rushes to the results. Dwight and Tara are both safe. Martha is also safe, and so is Jaydee. Khalila, Carly, and Mila are next to learn their fate, and they are all in the bottom 3! We didn't even check in with Matt, Greg, and Brian!

Ben asks what went wrong for these three women. Farley says they need to remember it's a competition. It's critical to put your best foot forward, and you need to take risks.

Did Canada make the right decision? It doesn't matter what Sass thinks because "Canada votes, Canada decides." Jake is asked who he thinks will go home but first answers Sass's question and says Canada was wrong. Based on last night, he says Mila will be heading home.

Finally, who does Zack want to see next week? Zack names Carly, but not only does he want to see her next week, he wants to see her until the end.

On that note, Ben announces that Khalila and Carly are both safe. Mila Miller has been eliminated. Cue her funeral video. Canadian Idol has been a great roller coaster, and the best one Mila has been on. This is only the beginning of something better. Mila sings us out with "Signed, Sealed, Delivered" and we are done for tonight.

Next week, the shows will resume to their normal days on Monday and Tuesday. The Top 9 will be performing "The Music of the Sixties" and I don't think any guests have been confirmed yet. This week has been a less than stellar week so it can only get better, right? I guess we'll have to wait until next week to see!
