Dancing With The Stars: It's Perfect 10's For Sabrina
Episode 8 Recap by Jenny Lane
October 16, 2007
Last week on Dancing with the Stars, the couples danced either the Jive or the Tango. After the viewers voted, the bottom two couples were Wayne and Cheryl, and Floyd and Karina. The news shocked Floyd, whose ego has its own dressing room! In the end, Floyd was saved. Wayne and Cheryl were eliminated, which was probably for the best. As much as I love Mr. Las Vegas and enjoyed seeing him dance, it wasn't fair to try to compare him with the other dancers.

Tonight, the couples will dance either the Paso Doble or the Viennese Waltz. Samantha is finally back from maternity leave. She's showing her post-maternity cleavage off in a dangerously low-cut slinky silver number. As Samantha says how happy she is to be back, Tom does an impressive job of keeping his eyes above her neck.

Tonight's first couple is Mark and Kym. Last week, Mark kept struggling to look like a real dancer. This week, they're dancing the Viennese Waltz. In rehearsals, Mark takes pages and pages of notes as Kym teaches him the new dance, but Kim would rather have Mark "feel everything and let himself go." Mark strapped on the funny looking contraption to practice his ballroom hold, and danced himself around the room while Kym watched. His hold is looking better, if only they could incorporate the equipment into his costume!

Mark and Kym's Viennese Waltz is to "Mr. Bojangles." Mark is wearing a formal tuxedo. Kym is wearing a long pink flowing dress that is low cut in the front and back, and with a few high slits to show some leg. Her dress has some small ruffles on the front and some huge ruffles on the back which make her backside look huge. Actually, now that I'm watching more, the ruffle on the back is more like a sash.

Mark and Kym's dance looks a little forced. Mark has a pasted on weird smile, and his chin is pointed up in the air too much. Occasionally, he forgets and scrunches up his face like he usually does, which the judges always criticize him for. It's a fast waltz which makes it more fun to watch than the really slow ones. He still looks like he's acting, and tonight with that weird smile, he looks like a middle-aged guy who is pretending to be a little boy.

Len says that Mark has become a much more rounded performer and dancer, and this was his best dance. Bruno says it started well, but sometimes he looked like "Big Foot in a suit." Carrie Ann says she's happy that Mark wasn't dancing with his mouth this week, and he's improving. Carrie Ann and Bruno give them scores of 7, and Len gives them an 8, for a total of 22.

The next couple is Sabrina and Mark with the Paso Doble. Sabrina says they're going to work on their contrasts between fast and slow this week, because the judges have criticized them for that. She wants to prove that she can dance more than just the fast and fun dances.

Sabrina and Mark's Paso Doble is to "You Spin me Round." Mark is wearing black pants, a black vest, and a royal purple shirt. Sabrina is wearing a long royal purple dress that is high-cut in front except for a small cutout right below her neck. It's also long-sleeved, and shows some back but not a lot. I don't think the dress is very flattering, and it makes her look a lot heavier than she is. Her hair is pulled back tight and her makeup is heavy and dark.

As Sabrina and Mark's dance starts, she has a look on her face which I think she thinks is dramatic and serious. To me, it looks like she's either constipated or just smelled something really bad. As the music starts, Sabrina stands in one place while Mark does a bunch of fantastic spins and jumps. She whips her dress around, and her constipated look gets even worse.

Mark's face alternates between a big smile and what can only be described by saying that his mouth is formed into the shape of an "O." When he makes the "O" face, it's when he's doing one of the dramatic moves and stomping around. When he has Sabrina in a hold, he smiles. It's all very strange.

I'm too distracted by.....
