Dancing With The Stars: Three Nights And Two Are Gone
Episode 3 Recap by Jenny Lane
September 25, 2008
For the last two nights, Dancing with the Stars brought us 13 couples, all ready to perform two dances. After night one, here’s what the standings looked like:
Brooke and Derek – Cha Cha – 23
Toni and Alec – Cha Cha – 22
Lance and Lacey – Cha Cha – 22
Misty and Maks – Foxtrot – 21
Warren and Kym – Cha Cha - 21
Kim and Mark – Foxtrot - 19
Cody and Julianne – Cha Cha – 18
Maurice and Cheryl – Foxtrot – 18
Ted and Inna – Foxtrot – 18
Cloris and Corky – Foxtrot – 16
Susan and Tony – Cha Cha - 15
Rocco and Karina – Foxtrot – 14
Jeffrey and Edyta – Cha Cha – 12
Last night, 12 of the 13 couples were declared safe, and danced their second dance. The couple with the lowest judges’ scores combined with audience votes was sent home.
The final two couples still in danger were Kim and Mark, and Jeffrey and Edyta. After combining the judges’ scores with the audience votes, the couple with the lowest total and the first couple eliminated was Jeffrey and Edyta.
After the 12 remaining couples danced their second dances, the standings were:
Brooke and Derek – Quickstep - 26
Toni and Alec – Quickstep – 23
Cody and Julianne – Quickstep - 23
Warren and Kym – Quickstep – 22
Susan and Tony – Quickstep - 22
Lance and Lacey – Quickstep – 21
Misty and Maks – Mambo – 21
Maurice and Cheryl – Mambo – 21
Rocco and Karina – Mambo – 21
Ted and Inna – Mambo – 19
Kim and Mark – Mambo - 18
Cloris and Corky – Mambo – 16
Tonight, one more couple will be eliminated from the competition. The night kicks off with a dance number from all of the professionals, set to “Under Pressure.” They’re all dressed in black. Some of the guys are wearing regular black shirts, but some are wearing lace up vests that aren’t laced up in the front very tightly.
The girls are also in black, and they look like dominatrix flamenco dancers. They’re all wearing long full skirts that are slit up to the top on one side. Their tops are all some sort of corset or bra or lace vest. When the lights go on, we see that the skirts have red linings. Some more dancers come out, and it looks like one of the girls is wearing tight black pants, but she disappeared before I could figure it out.
Next, we look back on last night’s performances, and recap the standings. Then it’s time for some results. Samantha tells us that it’s time to reveal the first two couples that are safe.
The first couple that is safe is Brooke and Derek. The second couple moving on to next week is Kim and Mark. I guess Kim does have a few fans (or wealthy parents), and her supporters rallied last night and voted for her.
Tom tells us that since Jeffrey and Edyta didn’t get to perform their Quickstep last night, they’re going to do it now. That doesn’t make any sense to me, but whatever.
Next, it’s time to reveal one more couple that is safe, and it’s Cloris and Corky. Corky gives a little cheer, and Cloris looks a little stunned. The audience erupts in cheers, so despite what you may think about her, you have to admit that she’s got fans.
The results shows always have 10 minutes of recaps, 20 minutes of commercials, 25 minutes of time wasters, and 5 minutes of results. Tonight is no exception, and it’s time for the first performance of the evening. Singer and teen heartthrob Jesse McCartney is here to perform “Leavin.”
Jesse has two dancers with him doing a ballroom dance, but they aren’t any of the professionals and I can’t even begin to pronounce or spell their names. Hmm, HD really isn’t kind. Every pore in Jesse’s face shows, and so does the fact that he’s wearing inches of makeup.
