DWTS: Let's Face It - We Knew Who Was Going To Win
Episode 21 Recap by Jenny Lane
December 1, 2008
On the performance show, we saw the Dancing with the Stars finals. The three couples all participated in a “Samba Smackdown,” and then all danced a freestyle dance. Here’s how the judges scored the two dances:

Brooke and Derek:
Samba – 28
Freestyle – 30
Total - 58

Lance and Lacey:
Samba – 26
Freestyle – 27
Total - 53

Warren and Kym:
Samba – 25
Freestyle – 28
Total - 53

Tonight, we’ve got a two hour show ahead of us, so I’m preparing myself for a nauseating amount of time wasting. Let’s get to it!

Tom and Samantha start things off tonight. Tom looks like he’s going to a funeral, in a black suit and black tie. Samantha is wearing a one shouldered, tight gold dress. Her hair is pulled back and looks much better than last night.

The audience is cheering as Tom and Samantha go over the scoring procedure. The cheering must be drowning out some music, because Brooke and Derek, Warren and Kym, and even Tom are all rocking back and forth to something! Interestingly, Lance and Lacey aren’t feeling the beat, and neither is Samantha.

We take back a look on last night’s performances next. Then Samantha is backstage with all three couples. She asks Brooke how she and Derek are “going to stay on top.” Brooke says they’re doing one of their favorite dances of the season, and Derek says they’re going to “end it nice.”

Samantha turns to the other two couples, and asks Lance if he’s going to be able to overtake Warren and Kym. Lance fidgets, looks uncomfortable, and giggles. Samantha asks Warren what he’s going to do to overtake Brooke and Derek. Warren laughs and says “I’m gonna party, what else do I do, I’m gonna party!”

In an overly dramatic voice, Tom tells us that despite threats to return, Cloris has been missing since she was booted from the show. So, “to find out where she’s been, we went looking for her.” Then we get mysterious music, and see a trailer with a big cardboard box next to it. Cloris crawls out of the box, wearing one of her dancing dresses and a ripped coat. She beats on trailer doors and tries to get in, but nobody answers. Then she spins around a few times, and poof, she’s all cleaned up.

Cloris has a microphone, and says she’s going to go find out who people are voting for. She walks around and asks people, and of course there are people who say they’re going to vote for each of the finalists. With that unmystery now unsolved, Cloris turns and walks off, scratching her backside as she disappears into the sunset.

Alicia Keys is in the studio to sing “I Need You.” She has four of her own dancers that are dancing on the floor as she sings onstage. She dances a little from behind the microphone, which looks a little odd. Alicia is dressed in a super tight black bodysuit, black boots, and a short sleeved shiny black jacket. Her dancers are also all in black. As she sings, she moves down to the dance floor so that she can dance in a line with her dancers, and reminds me a little of a Janet Jackson video as she does. Then she makes her way over to the piano and finishes the song there.

Next, we start our look back on the entire season with another peek at the first few weeks. Then the first three couples to be sent home are back to dance again. First we have Jeffrey and Edyta, dancing the Quickstep. The bright spot is that we get to see Edyta’s dangerously cut dress once more. Aside from that, the dance deserves the fast forward that I’m giving it right now.

The next couple on the dance floor is Ted and Inna, dancing the Foxtrot. I remember really enjoying Ted when he was still around. I have to say that I kind of feel sorry for these couples, having to come back and dance after having so many weeks off. It also highlights how much better the finalists are, but maybe that’s on purpose.

The third couple to dance tonight is Kim and Mark, with their Mambo. I find Kim completely hateable, and I can’t get to the fast forward button fast enough.

Back from a commercial break, it’s time to look back on the third and fourth weeks of competition. Then Misty and Maks are with Tom and Samantha to talk about Misty’s injury. She says she was just cleared this week to walk, but she’s itching to get back on the dance floor.

The next dance is Rocco and Karina, dancing the Mambo. I think Rocco is a genuinely nice guy, so I’m glad that he was on the show for that reason. I had seen him on his reality show, and he seemed like such a jerk. On DWTS, he was likeable, sweet and genuine, so I changed my opinion about him. All that aside, his dancing was horrendous.

The next Cloris time waster starts.....
