Hell's Kitchen - Rancid Food, Rancid Attitudes, Call The Medic!
Episode 3 Recap by Brian Sikorsky
June 21, 2007

The next day in the kitchen Julia is asked to make the crème brulee and doesn't know what it is. Chef Ramsay takes a moment to call Aaron in the hospital to check on him and also lets him know that the doctor has said he has a serious illness and cannot come back to Hell's Kitchen. Before starting dinner, Chef Ramsay asks the blue team if they are going to be able to get along with out Aaron. Is this a question? Did he doing anything before to help them? Gordon also asks them if they have found a leader yet and when Brad announces himself as the leader Gordon responds, "Thank God." Chef Ramsay also informs the blue team that there is a problem with the water in Hell's Kitchen tonight and since they lost the breakfast service, they would have to stop and get a water delivery during dinner service.

During dinner service, Rock is sweating and the sweat is getting in his eye. Gordon taunts him a big and asks for someone to get him a tissue. Rock refuses it. Gordon teases him like he was Aaron. "Are you gonna faint? Medic! Medic!"

On the red side, Joanna is struggling with her risotto and Chef Ramsay continues to get frustrated. Rock finally gets his risotto out and in an interview; he starts talking about himself in the third person. "Rock knows he's a leader", "He [Gordon] needs to see Rock". Okay buddy.

Josh is sent on a water run just as the blue team is starting to get everything together while Bonnie on the red team sends Gordon a raw scallop. "Is it raw?" she asks. He tells her she should tell him and not ask him. She quickly changes her comment to "It's raw." Chef Ramsay then takes a whiff of crab spaghetti that Joanna made and almost gags. He grabs the sixth pan of crab that she has on the line and smells it. Sous Chef MaryAnn also smells it and jerks away at the smell. "It's rancid!" Gordon screams. "You could kill someone!" Joanna is switched with Julia.

On the blue side, Vinnie sends Gordon a raw egg and when he is called on it, Chef Ramsay slams the egg in Vinnies' chest. He immediately tenses up and looks like he's about to put a beat down on Gordon. Luckily, he goes back to his station and calms down.

Jen jumps over to apps to help Julia out. Julia has the right amount of spaghetti cooked, but Jen thinks she has too much so she throws the pasta out. A moment later, Jen realizes that Julia was right and she needed the pasta she just threw out. She reaches into the garbage picks out the spaghetti, washes it off and places it back in the boiling water to "kill off any bacteria". Julia questions Jen about where she got the pasta and when she finds out it was out of the garbage, Julia objects and starts a new patch of pasta.

On the blue side, Josh isn't ready when he is called to bring his food forward. Gordon accuses him of sabotaging the team. Brad is caught trying to pass off charred Wellington's to Gordon while in the red kitchen; Jen also overcooks Wellingtons, which sends Gordon into a rant.

He closes down the restaurant when he sees patrons walking out. Gordon comments that the blue team has yet to complete a dinner service but praises Rock for having his best night so far. He blasts Brad for being dishonest and Joanna for her attitude. He tells Bonnie he's never going to trust her again and he's going to watch everything she does. He says the red team all made mistakes so he wants them to come to a decision as a group about what two is going to be nominated for elimination.

In the dorms, initially the group chooses Joanna and Julia mentions Jen for the pasta incident. Bonnie and Melissa throw Julia's name in due to her lack of experience and knowledge.

Back in the kitchen, Gordon asks Joanna who are the teams' nominees. Joanna tells him that she is the first nominee and Julia is the other. Jen chimes in and puts herself up for elimination as a third nominee. She tells Chef Ramsay why which disgust him. Julia tells Gordon that Jen, Bonnie and Melissa don't think she can run a fine dining establishment and Gordon blasts Joanna for serving the rancid crab.

In the end he decides Joanna's' decisions combined with her attitude made it appear that she wasn't fitted to continue working in Hell's Kitchen.
