Hell's Kitchen - Let's Play Name That Taste!
Episode 4 Recap by Brian Sikorsky
June 26, 2007
Vinnie is still having trouble with the Wellingtons and Gordon sees the extent of the waste. He has a hotel pan full of Wellingtons that are un-servable. Melissa is still trying to help Bonnie in the red kitchen. Bonnie is loosing track of which temperature is which on the Wellingtons because Melissa is pulling them out and moving them. As a result, Wellingtons are being cut open that are way under cooked. Melissa is putting them back in the oven to flash cook them which will seriously decrease the quality of the dish. Bonnie is flipping out because she has lost control and when Chef Ramsay starts asking her questions she keeps trying to cover up her mistakes, which infuriates Gordon even more.
On the blue side, a fish is being returned for being too salty as is a spaghetti dish for being under cooked. Gordon tells the teams that if one more item is returned the restaurant is getting shutdown for the night.
Bonnie gets Chef Ramsay a Wellington while he is still waiting on a chicken, which takes half the time of a Wellington to cook. When the chicken finally does come to the pass, it is dry and flaky. Another dish is returned to the kitchen. This time it's a chicken that is cold. Gordon looses it tells Jean Philipe to shut it down and slams the plate to the ground.
In the back, Bonnie starts crying and says that she's "not cut out to be here". I agree.
Back in the kitchen, Gordon has the comment cards and says that 65% of the guests say they would never return to the restaurant. That is death to any restaurant and Gordon says that none of the teams could be called winners since both of them stunk. He told Rock that his performance was solid and could feel his presence in the kitchen and was told to nominate one of his team for elimination.
He told Melissa that she would not be nominating anyone since she was horrible. He tells Bonnie that she was terrible as well and twirled crying "What chicken?" It was pretty funny. He tells Jen to make the call.
Rock says he knows who was going to choose before the service began while Jen on the other hand is having a hard time choosing since she doesn't want to be the bad guy.
Back in front of Gordon Ramsay, Rock nominates Josh to Gordon's surprise since he "maxed out his potential". Jen selects Melissa also to Gordon's surprise. He overrules each of their choices and selects Vinnie and Bonnie. When asked why he should stay, Vinnie stayed big headed and showed no humility while Bonnie claimed she was learning from her mistakes.
Gordon selected Vinnie for elimination because he felt he peaked and couldn't run a restaurant of his own because he couldn't even cook.
Josh is now very pissed off at Rock and this is going to get heavy. Rock on the other hand is still talking in third person. "They are not a threat to Rock. The only threat to Rock is Rock."
Oh man.
