Hell's Kitchen - No Leadership - You're Gone
Episode 7 Recap by Brian Sikorsky
July 20, 2007

This week on "Hell's Kitchen" we start were last weeks elimination took off. Bonnie describes Melissa's elimination as watching a movie where a main character is killed in the first five minutes.

Really? I don't get Bonnie. She goes on to talk about how she is kicking ass in the competition and it is that moment that I am now one hundred percent certain that Bonnie has no idea what is going on. She is deluded as the day is long.

Back in the kitchen the chefs are told that they will have 30 minutes to prepare an appetizer and two entrees using only the leftovers that Chef Ramsay has put on a tray for them. Very quickly the men of the blue team spring into action and plan out their menu while the ladies of the red team can't seem to make up their minds about what they are going to cook. With only ten minutes to go and Chef Ramsay breathing down their necks, the blue team is almost ready while the red team is still talking. I hope they decide on some salads!

As the clock reaches zero, both teams bring their completed dishes to the pass for Chef Ramsay's tasting.

First up are Josh with his Curry Bass and Crustacean Pasta and Bonnie with her Rustic Chicken Stew. Gordon couldn't decide so he split the win and provided one point to each.

Next is Jen with her Steak & Eggs, which was actually Bonnie's idea. Chef Ramsay thought it was boring so he looked for Josh with his Chicken Legs for an impressive dish but the sauce that was too acidic and both teams did not receive a point.

Finally it is Rock with a Surf and Turf of Ribeye and Sea Bass and Julia with a Fish and Chips of Sea Bass. Gordon was less than impressed with the fish and chips and reminded Julia that Hell's Kitchen is a fine dining establishment and gave the point to Rock and the win to the blue team. Chef Ramsay says that since the ladies dishes were dull and uninventive, their punishment is dull as well. They will be cleaning the entire restaurant and since today is delivery day, they will also be responsible for checking in and storing all deliveries. As the reward for the men, they have the opportunity to get some payback to Chef Ramsay as they will be competing with him in a paintball match.

On the paintball field it is blue team versus Chef Ramsay and once Gordon hits one of them, they are out. Before getting out onto the field they are able to take part in some target practice. Each of the targets has cutouts of the ladies of the red team and Gordon face. Needless to say, the men go to town on the targets while the red team is accepting their first delivery. Bonnie is checking it in while the others are bringing it in and putting it away. Moments later they find that Bonnie didn't check close enough and accepted fish skeletons for stock instead of the entire fish with the fillets. She starts to freak out and cry which again tells me SHE CAN'T RUN A KITCHEN! Sous Chef MaryAnn points out the other things she didn't catch as well.

Back on the paintball field, Chef Ramsay is stalking around searching for the members of the blue team. Josh, Brad and Rock are trying to sneak around to blast Gordon with paint balls but before they can do too much damage to the head chef, he gets them out. The men felt that this was the best reward they could receive. When the men get back to Hell's Kitchen they see the ladies of the red team still putting product away from delivery and they just laugh. Jean Philipe tells the men it would be nice if they could help the ladies out. They just laugh and walk away to the disgust of Jean Philipe.

The next morning, Chef Ramsay tells the teams that for tonight's dinner service both teams will be coming up with their own menus. They have one hour to come up with three appetizers, three entrees and three desserts. The red team starts throwing out ideas like an Ahi Tuna dish, which leads Julia to ask, "What's Ahi Tuna?" Oh boy. Julia starts to throw out some ideas like a Strip Steak but is being shot down. The men are cranking out a rather ambitious sounding menu. After the hour had passed each team had to present their ideas to Chef Ramsay. After looking at the red team's menu, Gordon asks Julia which dish is her creation. She tells him that none of them are and that she would have liked to offer a New York Strip and Shrimp. Gordon tells her to put it on the menu and delete something else. When inquiring about the blue team, we learn that entire menu was the brainchild of Brad. Chef Ramsay quickly comments on the complexity of the menu and questions whether they will be able to get it done.

Once Hell's Kitchen opens, the red kitchen quickly gets the first orders as well as the second, third, fourth and fifth ones. The blue team sits by quietly waiting for their first orders. A few moments later a guest finally orders from the blue menu and the men are off. Guests are ordering Julia's' Steak and Shrimp from the red menu like they are going out of style. With a grill full of steaks, Chef Ramsay praises Julia on a great decision to have it on the menu.

The blue team is not having the good of luck and Josh is struggling to keep his head above water. Rock offers a suggestion to Josh to increase the heat on his pan so he can properly sear the lamb but Josh doesn't listen. After getting frustrated with Josh, Chef Ramsay calls him over to tell him a secret. He whispers (loudly) in his ear, "You Can't Cook!" Bwahahahaha! Josh's' lamb looks boiled and not seared so Josh tries again but brings it out rare so he tries again. Finally, Josh gives Chef Ramsay a perfectly cooked piece of lamb. Gordon is getting frustrated with the blue team because they are not helping Josh and that is bringing the whole team down.

The red team is not faring any better. Bonnie and Jen are starting to have trouble working together. Bonnie is attempting to cook with the gas off and needless to say, Gordon got a little more than pissed. After struggling for a while, both teams complete the dinner service and he says that there was not winning team but a winning chef. Gordon says that Julia was the best of the day since she kept her cool and none of her steaks were returned from being cooked improperly. She is told to select someone from he team for elimination where as the men were told to come to a team decision.

Julia talks with Bonnie and Jen in hopes that she can make a good decision where the men are outside talking about who should go and of course, they won't decide themselves.

Back in the kitchen, Julia names Bonnie as her choice and Brad tells Gordon that the blue team has selected him as their choice. The two chefs step forward and tell Chef Ramsay why they should stay. Rock adds that the reason the Brad was selected was the he tried to take the leadership reigns and that lead to their unsuccessful dinner.

Chef Ramsay pauses for a moment and says that "the person leaving Hell's Kitchen is" and then pauses and calls Bonnies' name and adds that she needs to wake up and then tells Brad that he is going home.

Bonnie was shocked but deluded. She says Gordon sees something in her and that is why she is still there. Sure. I think it's just because Brad sucked more than you sweety.
