Hell's Kitchen - Is This Rock's Downfall?
Episode 10 Recap by Brian Sikorsky
August 10, 2007

This week on an episode of "Hell's Kitchen" that I feel was totally unnecessary, we saw a recap of the previous nine episodes where we got to relive Rock serving frozen gnocchi, Jen garbage picking, rancid crab, Rock's blow up and lots of Bonnie crying. After the walk down memory lane Rock got a visit from his two kids and after a short visit, they are sent away. Rock makes sure to sneak in a request for his wife to visit the dorms.

Later in the dorms, Rock is celebrating with Bonnie as they swap threats of victory to each other. Rock confesses that he though it was going to be him and Melissa in the finals and that he underestimated Bonnie from the start. She says that was her plan. I think she was just lucky.

We later see the chefs standing in their half of the restaurant space trying to come up with an idea for their restaurant. HELLO!?! Have you watched this show before? You know that in the past two seasons the room was divided why are you waiting till now to think of what you would do. I have no desire to be on this show yet I know what I would do with my section of Hell's Kitchen. We then learn that Bonnie and Rock are exact opposites. She wants a European room with mismatched china where Rock wants a warm southern feel with formal settings. Bonnie wants all black uniforms where Rock wants jeans (don't worry, Jean Philipe talked him out of it).

In the kitchen, Bonnie runs up to Sous Chef MaryAnn and gives her one of the most uncomfortable hugs I have ever seen. I think MaryAnn even puts her hand up and says "okay" to get Bonnie off her. Bonnie quickly gets the menu knocked out and is ready to go where as Rock is struggling with the menu and is very unprepared. Gordon then comes in and surprised them both with a trip to Las Vegas.

In the jet, Chef Ramsay is rehashing old memories and asks Rock why he through a hissy fit. Rock denied throwing one, which of course we see video evidence of one that told a different story. He questions Bonnie on her strategy and praises her on how far she has come. After touching down in Vegas they are taken to the Green Valley Resort where they drop off their luggage. They both are impressed when they see the TV's in the room showing the two of them going neck and neck in battle. Later, Gordon is taking them on a tour and brings them to the door of a private club. As he opens it, the chefs learn it is not a private club on the other side but a stage. As they walk on stage Chef Ramsay tells them that they have to compete in one more challenge. They will have thirty minutes to create their signature dish from the new menus. The audience watches the screens as the chefs cook with Sous Chefs Scott and MarryAnn in a nearby kitchen.

When the cooking is completed and the time expired, they are told that the judges are some of Las Vegas' most important people. Among the judges is Robin Leach from "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous", Michael the winner from season one and Tiffany the winner from season two. The score stands tied at three. The deciding vote comes from the General Manager and from the Executive Chef of the Green Valley Resort. After tasting both dishes, they decide on Bonnie's pasta dish over Rocks chicken. He withholds the prize for the challenge and then they both get some quiet time with Gordon. He gives both of them a trip to New York and invites them to dine at the chef's table of his restaurant The London.

Back in L.A., the two of them are talking about the upcoming challenge when the past six eliminated chefs enter the dorm to help them. Bonnie is excited to see Jen and Rock actually hugs Josh and Brad. Julia is overcome with emotion and disappointment in herself and starts to cry. She finally pulls it together and they are all called to meet with Gordon. He welcomes all the chefs back and we see even more flashbacks. He informs Bonnie that since she won the competition the day prior she gets first pick of her team. She chooses Jen. Rock then chooses Brad. Bonnie picks Melissa while Rock picks Vinnie. With Josh and Julia left I though for sure Rock would want Julia but she goes to Bonnie and Rock gets Josh. This maybe Rocks downfall. The blue team is back and we all know how much they sucked wind.
