Hell's Kitchen: A Hard Fought Dinner Service And Elimination
Rankings by RTVC Staff Writer Brian Sikorski
As of April 24, 2009
This weeks episode of Hell's Kitchen features a hard-fighting dinner service and elimination.

We rejoin the show with Gordon asking Ben to practice saying "I was wrong" which beats Ben down. Back in the dorm, Andrea is feeling down. The next morning, Gordon is finishing up dishes in front of the chefs. He tells them that he wants them to try each of the three dishes and then surprises them by telling them that they have a half an hour to make it.

Danny is going with Red Snapper while everyone else is using Hallibut. Andrea is using bay scallops instead of sea scallops like everyone else. Paula is using water to make the dish while the rest used fish stock.

Andrea used sambuca while Danny and Paula used white wine. Ben used Dom perignon and tries to hide it. After the half and hour, Gordon tastes all the dishes and tells Danny he was the only one to use Red Snapper and he was right. Andrea used the wrong scallops so she was out. Ben used too much saffron so he was out. It came down to Danny and Paula. After deliberating he gives the win to Danny who didn't use water.

As a prize, Danny is taken on via limo to an airfield for a ride in a biplane while the rest of the chefs have to clean the floors of the dining room and polish the glasses and silver as well as prepping the entire kitchen for service. While cleaning, Andrea is complaining the whole time which is wearing on Ben and Paula. Gordon joins the chefs in the kitchen as they are finishing prep and tells them that he had an idea earlier and wants them to return to the dorms to "see something"

With fear mounting, they run to the dorms and find that Gordon has given each of them a set of his signature collection of cookware. Back in the kitchen Gordon says that the slate is wiped clean and this dinner service is a fresh start. Ben starts off the night getting confused with the orders but quickly starts to put it together.

Food is flying out of the kitchen and as they start moving into entrees, Andrea is getting her meats out right. Ben gets flagged for bland Risotto and Paula is getting berated for being slow when she missed a fish. Ben takes another hit when messes up a plain green salad. Danny starts to struggle a bit in the garnish station and in a scary twist, Andrea is doing very well. Ben forgets to drop pasta and Andrea hits a road block when she thinks she ruined the Wellingtons.

When a man in the dining room proposes to his girlfriend, Ben describes it as a seeing a rainbow out the window of a prison. Andrea misses the last two Wellingtons so Danny and Paula jump to assist in getting the Wellingtons in the oven. Gordon praises them for a great start but tells them that the ending was terrible and that is all that matters in the restaurant industry.

He tells them to come to a consensus on one person for elimination. Paula finally tells Ben how she feels when she puts Ben on the block. With no consensus made, Gordon asks why. Andrea says it was a toss up between Andrea and Ben so he calls both of them forward. Ben makes a quick and powerful plea as does Andrea.

When Gordon decides he tells Andrea that she can stay and sends Ben packing. The final three, Andrea, Danny and Paula are given a surprise that is to be revealed next week.
Paula
Current Ranking: 1         Previous Ranking: 1
A few hiccups this week but she's in it for the win and I think Gordon knows it already.

Danny
Current Ranking: 2         Previous Ranking: 2
Hold slow and steady Danny. He had a great win this week but he has got to show that he is the entire package if he expects to open the door in the finale.

Andrea
Current Ranking: 3         Previous Ranking: 4
She pulled it together this week even with her little mix up at the end. She can make it to the final two if she can control the kitchen when she works the pass next week.

Ben
Current Ranking: Eliminated
His mouth was finally overshadowed by his poor performance and excuses.

Robert
Current Ranking: Eliminated
It's a shame he had to go for medical reasons. This luffa-using real man will be missed.

Giovanni
Current Ranking: Eliminated
Seemed to be having a really bad day. I really expected Giovanni to go much further than he had.

Carol
Current Ranking: Eliminated
As expected, she was kicked to the curb for being all talk.

Alicia
Current Ranking: Eliminated
I was a bit surprised by this. I do agree that her motivation doesn't show and it she is perceived to be uncaring.

Lacey
Current Ranking: Eliminated (Finally)
I have nothing to say except. Finally.

J
Eliminated
He was kicked out DURING SERVICE! That's something special.

Coi
Eliminated
No real sense of urgency was a major issue for Coi. She forgot to put food on and then would try to cut corners to get by easier. First the pasta and then the burgers.

Colleen
Eliminated
After 5 episodes, she still hadn't shown her skills and ability to handle it.

Seth
Current Ranking: Eliminated
Saw this one coming. Slow, nasty and didn't really have a grip on things.

Charlie
Current Ranking: Eliminated
Struggling on the appetizer station. Struggling in the front of house. Spilling bacon all over a table and its diners. Worst waiter. Nominated to go. He deserved it.

Ji
Current Ranking: Eliminated due to injury.
Injured, she still worked hard and didn’t give up. If it wasn’t for the injury, I think she would still be at the top.

Wil
Current Ranking: Eliminated
He couldn’t cut it on the garnish station and no matter how much his teammates helped, he still didn’t make it.
