Hell's Kitchen: Yes Chef!
Rankings by RTVC Staff Writer Brian Sikorski
As of May 15, 2009
In the shocking two part season finale of Hell's Kitchen, Gordon Ramsay had a very tough decision to make.

Last week in the first part of the two-part finale, we started with a recap of the entire season. After Ramsay congratulated them for making it to the finals, both of the chefs retired to the dorm and began to celebrate with Champagne.

The next morning, after drinking and not working, the regret started to flow like the Champagne the night before. Each of the chefs begin working on the their design ideas and later in front of Ramsay, he informs them that they will be flying to Atlantic City and that there will be special VIP's watching their restaurant development.

The VIP's were two members of their family. In Atlantic City, they continue to work on the menus while communicating with their families back in Hell's Kitchen.

In Atlantic City they are introduced to the Chief Operating Officer of the Borgota Resort selects items from each of the finalists and they have 45 minutes to make it.

In front of an audience of about 500 employees of the Borgota, Gordon brings forward a different executive chef to taste each dish and select a winner for each course. Paula take win for the first course and the score ties up with the second course. Wow! Another tie means GREAT TELEVISION.

So Larry, the COO is called up to break the tie with he third dish and he selects Danny's dish and takes the final challenge win. Back in L.A., there have been some set backs with their dining rooms and are beginning to feel the pressure. Ramsay calls them together again and while standing behind a table with domes on it, he tells the chefs that he has key ingredients they need. After revealing the past chefs under the domes. Danny selects first after wining in Atlantic City.

He selected Ben, Gio and Carol. Paula gets Andrea, LA and Lacey. Andrea and Danny meet with their teams and begin to explain their expectations. Paula and the rest of her team are concerned over Lacey's performance and when she makes the cr?me Brule incorrectly, the fears are realized. Ramsay tries Paula's dishes and comments that the halibut is dry and the cr?me Brule is unservable. Danny's dishes as tasted next and the duck is not cooked properly. He also says the second course is a bit phallic and his dessert is undercooked.

Later Ramsay walks the dining rooms and likes both of them but it appears that Paulas' is liked more. Danny asks his team to shout a loud "Yes Chef!" as he calls the first order to intimidate the red team. It may have worked because Andrea overcooked her first scallops.

On Danny's blue side, Carol is not getting the lobster appetizers out as fast as he wants. Andrea is struggling with the halibut and not getting it out. Danny's blue kitchen is also struggling to get his first entrees out. Ramsay comments that Andrea is screwing Paula over but he praises Paula for finding her voice.

In the blue kitchen, Giovanni over seasons the sauce for the monkfish. Giovanni, in an interview, says he doesn't even want to be there and he doesn't care who wins. In the red kitchen, Lacey is starting to loose it and blames it on Paula's menu. LA and Andrea jump on Lacey's station to help. In the blue kitchen, the team is working together to get the food out fast.

Two hours into service, Paula starts picking up her voice and the team picks up the pace. Blue team got all of the checks out first and even though Paula finished last, Gordon says it is still an even race that is too close to call. He says that the comment cards will be the final decision.

Chef Ramsay pulls both teams together and tells them that the winner of Hell's Kitchen lives in Florida which excites both of them until they both realize they both live in Florida. After recapping the night, both chefs are called to Gordon's office and are told to step up to their doors.

They are told the chef who's door opens will be the next chef at Borgota. At the count of three, the handles are turned and Danny is revealed as the winner of Hell's Kitchen!

Holy crap!

Danny has the biggest explosion of excitement I have ever seen. He is joined by each of the past winners of Hell's Kitchen and Gordon introduces the new Hell's Kitchen wall of fame.
Danny
Winner Hell's Kitchen 5

Paula
Runner Up

Andrea
Current Ranking: Eliminated
She worked hard to stay in the competition but fell short in the end. Plus there is one thing to have high standards and another to be overly picky and disrespectful.

Ben
Current Ranking: Eliminated
His mouth was finally overshadowed by his poor performance and excuses.

Robert
Current Ranking: Eliminated
It's a shame he had to go for medical reasons. This luffa-using real man will be missed.

Giovanni
Current Ranking: Eliminated
Seemed to be having a really bad day. I really expected Giovanni to go much further than he had.

Carol
Current Ranking: Eliminated
As expected, she was kicked to the curb for being all talk.

Alicia
Current Ranking: Eliminated
I was a bit surprised by this. I do agree that her motivation doesn't show and it she is perceived to be uncaring.

Lacey
Current Ranking: Eliminated (Finally)
I have nothing to say except. Finally.

J
Eliminated
He was kicked out DURING SERVICE! That's something special.

Coi
Eliminated
No real sense of urgency was a major issue for Coi. She forgot to put food on and then would try to cut corners to get by easier. First the pasta and then the burgers.

Colleen
Eliminated
After 5 episodes, she still hadn't shown her skills and ability to handle it.

Seth
Current Ranking: Eliminated
Saw this one coming. Slow, nasty and didn't really have a grip on things.

Charlie
Current Ranking: Eliminated
Struggling on the appetizer station. Struggling in the front of house. Spilling bacon all over a table and its diners. Worst waiter. Nominated to go. He deserved it.

Ji
Current Ranking: Eliminated due to injury.
Injured, she still worked hard and didn’t give up. If it wasn’t for the injury, I think she would still be at the top.

Wil
Current Ranking: Eliminated
He couldn’t cut it on the garnish station and no matter how much his teammates helped, he still didn’t make it.
