Kid Nation: Bonanza is Disgusting!
Episode 6 Recap by Jenny Lane
October 25, 2007
Last week on Kid Nation, the town held an election for Town Council. Olivia ran against Anjay in the blue district, Guylan ran against Mike in the red district, Zach ran against Taylor in the yellow district, and Laurel was unchallenged in the green district.

The showdown had the kids breaking piñatas and looking for pictures of U.S. Presidents. Yellow won and became the upper class, green came in second and were the merchants, red came in third and became the cooks, and blue came in last and became the laborers.

The town won a reward, and had to choose between a town barbeque or dental hygiene items, which they had been doing without. Even though most of the town seemed to want the barbeque, the council decided that brushing their teeth was more important.

At the town hall meeting, Greg finally won the gold star, and vowed to use it for college. After the election votes were counted, Anjay won for the blue district and remained on the council. Guylan won and replaced Mike on the council for the red district. Not surprisingly, Zach defeated Taylor, and replaced her on the council for the yellow district. Since nobody ran against Laurel, she stayed on the council for the green district.

Tonight we begin on day 17, and the new councilmembers (Guylan for red and Zach for yellow) are getting used to their new duties. Zach rings the wakeup bell for the town, and Taylor screams from her sleeping bag "I'm not listening to you Zach, I don't like you!" She and two of her friends run over to where Zach is ringing the bell, and yell in his face "stop ringing the bell!" Then Taylor tells Zach that people hate him, and that he has a unibrow. Laurel tells Zach not to worry about it, and that Taylor is just jealous.

The red district are the cooks, and garbage is piling up all over town. I'm not sure how much is from since they've been cooks and how much is from back when yellow were the cooks. I'm also not sure if they're responsible for the trash or if the laborers would be.

The council goes to read the next journal entry. It talks about how garbage must be causing problems in town. It advises them to clean out the Bonanza City trash bins. The question of course is what to do with it. Anjay suggests finding some gun powder, but luckily the others think that's a bad idea. Laurel suggests that they just bury it, and Zach suggests that they bury it as far away as possible. Guylan says they should just take a few people from each of the districts, which I'm sure will go over well.

Anjay says he'll get Greg and Blaine to help. Guylan says he'll bring DK and Mike. Laurel asks if they can include Taylor, and Zach smiles and nods his head. Laurel is bringing Sophia and Meg, and Zach is bringing Taylor and her friend Leila. The council tells everyone about the trash cleanup project and announces the people who will be helping.

The trash crew goes over to the big pile of garbage. Laurel tells them that they will put the garbage into carts, and go along the same route that they originally traveled and bury it out there. Taylor raises her hand and says that she and Leila have things that they need to get done in town, and asks to stay in town. Laurel says "deal with it Taylor."

Taylor tells us that she and Leila are "beauty queens, we don't go scooping up trash and walking 200 yards and burying it." Good thing she doesn't know it's a lot further than 200 yards! Everyone gets to work except for Taylor and Leila, who run away and hide in a shed. Laurel comes to find them, and Taylor says "we're not going, we don't wanna help carry garbage."

DK and Laurel waste a bunch of time talking to the girls and trying to convince them to help. The girls sit there and refuse, so Laurel says they've wasted enough time, and when they're done they'll come back and think of a punishment for them.
