Project Runway: Project Runway: There Go the Brides - Episode 8 Recap
Recap by Romantic Rose
October 10, 2009
Last week on Project Runway, the designers worked in twos to make two looks featuring the color blue for the Macy's Inc line. Irina won, and Louise was eliminated.
As the designers get ready for their latest challenge, Carol Hannah says she is sad that Louise is gone. Gordana just wants to try. Irina has won two challenges. She says the rest of the group is not happy about it.
They smile to her face, but they don't know what she says behind her back. Logan interviews that the judges seem to like Irina's sophisticated style and that her wins have boosted her confidence to the point where she thinks she's better than the rest of them. Christopher just wants to avoid the bottom three this time.
Heidi meets the designers on the runway and says she has a surprise: new models. New models typically means ordinary women with something in common-- contestants' mothers, teenage prom queens, plus-size business executives, etc. The women all come out in wedding dresses.
Logan says he has been dreading a wedding challenge. Some of the dresses are obviously out of style, and my first guess is that the women are getting married and want to save money by using an old wedding dress that the designers will remake for them.
Instead, the women are all divorced, and the challenge is for the designers to turn the wedding dresses into hip new outfits, to represent a new beginning for the women.
The winner of the last challenge, Irina, gets first choice, and she chooses a dress with lots of fabric. After Irina, Heidi draws names, and the most voluminous dresses go first. Poor Shirin, the last to choose, gets a sheath dress with relatively little fabric, and she already seems nervous about what they'll do.
In the workroom, Tim announces that this challenge will be the last one where the winner receives immunity. The designers will have until midnight to complete their looks. Most of the challenges have been one day this season. He sends the clients to discuss what they want with the designers.
Gordana's client Annie wants a punk rock look. Charlie, Shirin's model, is a performer and wants something fly. Her idea of fly is a skimpy dress with a feathered headdress like Cher's Half-Breed. Shriin quieltly begins her nervous breakdown.
After the consultations, Tim tells the designers they have a budget of $25 and can purchases up to two yards of fabric at mood. Logan finds super-wide wool. Shirin just grabs whatever she can. She seems stressed and has no idea what she'll make.
