Project Runway: Creativity Takes the Prize
Recap and Commentary by RTVC Senior Staff Writer Donna Emery

This week on Project Runway, the season ended with a great runway show – and a winner I really could cheer for.
This season has been full of creative designers and the final runway was sure to be a great one. It did not disappoint.
Although I was sorry it was Mila showing her collection instead of Jay, I thought her collection was much better than I expected – and it did look better on the runway than on the website where I’d originally seen it.
Since I’ve been rooting for Seth Aaron for many weeks, I have no quarrel with the judges’ decision – and was so glad for his win. I had some scary moments as the judges praised each of the finalists lavishly before moving on to say some critical things about each of them. When Faith Hill gushed about Emilio’s gown (which was even more gorgeous on the runway than in its pictures) and everyone agreed, I was really biting my nails and steeling myself for them to say Emilio had won.
But then Heidi congratulated Seth Aaron. Phew.
Here are comments on each of the outfits the finalists showed us:
Seth Aaron
1. The show began with an eye-opening beautiful red dress. It had black leather A-line
accents and Seth Aaron wisely chose black and white tights to set off the dress. The
whole look was bright and deceptively simple-looking. The back was cut out and
framed with more leather. His model, Kristina looked amazing and I was also glad
she won, too.
2. Next came one of Seth Aaron’s typical outfits: a beautifully tailored black and white
houndstooth jumpsuit with fabulous black zipper accents. The red scarf at the neck
was a perfect finishing touch. This was so reminiscent of what he did throughout the
season; there could be no mistaking the designer of this outfit.
3. This one wasn’t a favorite. Faith Hill liked it; she called it a “parachute dress”. It was
an unevenly-hemmed grey, black and white dress over black thigh-high leather boots.
There was a lovely black leather belt to go with it. Although it was consistent with the
rest of his colors and designs, this one just didn’t do anything for me.
4. My absolute favorite. This was a very classy black and white striped dress with grey
accents. I loved the way it fit and flowed. Another lovely black leather belt made it
fit in with the other pieces. I wish I had this dress.
5. I didn’t like this one either, but it was definitely eye-catching and it was consistent
with the rest of the collection. This black patent leather dress had some square lapels
that folded out past the main line of the dress; it looked like someone opened up a
purse and pasted it on a dress. All of his clothes were beautifully made, but this one
was a bit too “out there” for me.
6. This wonderful dress gave the judges another wake-up call. This beautiful golden
yellow and black plaid dress was bright and beautifully made. The black leggings
were a perfect complement.
7. This amazing pantsuit.....
