Girlicious Episode Two : Carrie climbs the charts

This week on “Girlicious”, the remaining twelve ladies stepped up to plate, tore up their hearts, and hit their babies one more time in order to make it to the next round. Relying on the idea of “Confidence” the girls were placed in teams of four and faced off in two competitions; a baseball national anthem challenge, and a performance-off covering classic pop songs.

The teams were as follows

Team A – Natalie, Ilisa, Tiffanie, Nichole
Team B – Carrie, Chrystina, Charlye, Jenna
Team C – Cassandra, Alexis, Megan, Jaime
The first challenge, singing the national anthem at a minor league baseball game, involved two steps. The first step determined which group would sing the actual anthem, the second part determined which lady would earn an exemption by standing out of the crowd. In the end, Carrie, due to her superb vocal ability, won, and her group, group B, was called the strongest group of the day.

During the second part of the episode, the groups spun classic pop songs and while some succeeded, such as Team B’s “Tearing Up My Heart”, other groups, like Team C, simply failed miserably. In the end, the weakest member of the weakest group was sent home, and Team C was determined the weakest group. It came down to Megan, the girl who couldn’t break out of her pageant shell, and Cassandra, the dancer who cant really sing. Ultimately, Cassandra was spared, and Megan was the first girl told to hang up her boa.

Here’s how I rank the ladies going into next week :

Ilisa
Current Ranking: 1 - Previous Ranking:1

Ilisa proved once again that being the whole package is what makes you a star. She wasn’t the best singer of the week, she wasn’t the best dancer, but between the two she balanced it out pretty well, and delivered once again. What was the most interesting was the fact that Natalie, the girl who badmouthed everyone this week, seemed to actually spare Ilisa, and actually said that she wasn’t one of the girls who bothered her. That’s a huge deal.

Carrie
Current Ranking: 2 - Previous Ranking:6

Carrie had a huge comeback this week. Her singing really shined during the baseball challenge, and in a week where singing played a huge role, she whipped the competition. She was awarded the exemption for her exceptional performance during the first challenge, and she seems to be improving on her dancing. I think Robin is giving her way too hard a time on her dancing, and I greatly look forward to seeing more from her in the future.

Chrystina
Current Ranking: 3 - Previous Ranking:9

Chrystina showed some negative colors by gossiping with Natalie about the other ladies in the house, but she really showed talent during the second half of the episode. She proved she had great chops, and her dancing was top-notch. I have a feeling Chrystina got a back rap this week because of editing, and I look forward to seeing how she can deliver in the future.

Charlye
Current Ranking: 4 - Previous Ranking:4

As a part of the winning group this week, Charlye got to show off her singing and dancing and was unanimously praised for it. She’s not the best singer or dancer, but she’s proving she’s a whole package who’s in this for the long haul. She’s still under the radar, but expect her to pop up soon.

Tiffanie
Current Ranking: 5 - Previous Ranking:8

This week, Tiffanie was fighting with Natalie throughout the episode, yet she managed to nearly entirely maintain her composure, and proved that she is a mature person. Her singing was a little over the top, but her dancing was strong, and she’ proving to be a fan favorite. I want to see her do even better.

Alexis
Current Ranking: 6 - Previous Ranking:3

This week, Alexis unraveled a little bit being a member of the weakest group, however, she still showed that she was better than all the members of her group, and she seems to be the kind of girl who will bounce back from an off week. One thing I will comment on is that though she is 21 years old, she comes off much older when she performs. That’s not necessarily a good thing.
